Several hundred years ago, humans were nearly exterminated by giants. Giants are typically several stories tall, seem to have no intelligence, devour human beings and, worst of all, seem to do it for the pleasure rather than as a food source. A small percentage of humanity survived by enclosing themselves in a city protected by extremely high walls, even taller than the biggest of giants. Flash forward to the present and the city has not seen a giant in over 100 years. Teenage boy Eren and his foster sister Mikasa witness something horrific as the city walls are destroyed by a super giant that appears out of thin air. As the smaller giants flood the city, the two kids watch in horror as their mother is eaten alive. Eren vows that he will murder every single giant and take revenge for all of mankind. Review: This was a great introduction to anime for me - As someone new to anime, the Blu-Ray of Attack on Titan Season 1 was an excellent starting point for me. I was never really into this genre before, but I found myself thoroughly enjoying this series. The show has a very serious and gory tone, which was quite appealing to me. The audio and video quality on the Blu-Ray is top-notch, offering a much more immersive experience compared to standard formats I believe. Regarding the Blu-Ray release itself, it's really well-done. The boxes are sturdy and pretty well designed, with a clear listing of all the episodes and their corresponding story arcs inside. Despite consisting of two boxes, they are conveniently stored in a single case, making storage and access quite easy. Overall, for anyone new looking to dive into anime or just enjoy a good series with excellent production quality, Attack on Titan Season 1 is a fantastic choice, especially on Blu-Ray.

Brilliant series
I finally started on attack on Titan. I was quite late because so many great series came out around the same time. what a mistake that was! It starts at a good pace. we enter a peaceful village, where the leading characters live. there is a 50 meter wall around it, to keep out flesh eating giants named Titans 1 of the characters Eren Yaeger wants to be on the scout regiment, that actively hunts Titans. almost immediately into the story the village is attacked by a Titan taller than the wall His mum is eaten by 1, but Eren and his 2 friends Mikasa and Armin escape within the 2nd wall. All three decide to join the military and after a few years they make it. When they get their first assignment however, the huge Titan attacks again Eren gets eaten, and as it turns out has a hidden talent. (or a curse?) I haven't finished watching season 1 yet, but I think I will enjoy the series. as I mentioned, the pace is fast, but the series still manages to get in the background of people a little, I assume it will go in deeper as the story goes on. I was wrong to leave the series for this long, but on the other hand I could say I saved the best for last

eren is annoying
all in all a 5 star show, great characters, twists, animation, story telling etc etc etc, deserves the hype it gets great deal for the price, entire first season with bonus content on 4 discs in 2 cases, in a little paper sleeve. unlike some of my other orders its not damaged (which should be a given but idk what amazons been up to recently...)

Great show - Just don't skip the intro!
This is is great show with gruesome deaths and a lot of great action scenes. However, the pacing can be a bit off when a tense scene is interrupted by a flashback that drains the momentum. Though, the most important thing I can say about this Blu-ray release is to fast forward the intro sequence if necessary instead of skipping it. Whereas most Anime treat the 1.5 minutes of opening animation as separate chapter, it's not the case here. Instead you'll jump about five minutes ahead which means you're missing out on some rather crutial story elements.

If you're going with the original japanese audio and the english subtitles - beware because the subtitles are messy. There are weird formulations, redundancies and mistakes here and there that makes it confusing to follow. I'm surprised with the relatively poor quality of the subtitles for an official release.

First time I tried to watch this show, I thought it was terrible. Eren was a whiney, irritating main character, Mikasa had no character, and only existed to follow Eren around like a lost puppy, and Armin was too immersed in his own self-doubt to be useful, or interesting. It was really hard for me to watch the prologue. Then they did something I wasn't expecting. I suppose I can't say what, as it would qualify as a spoiler; but in my opinion it instantly made me wonder, where on earth are they taking this show? After that I was hooked. The more I watched, the more questions I had, and there's always the sense that the answers are out there, but not easily to be had. I love the show now, and can't wait for season 3. More importantly, though; the manga has given me so many more questions, and frustrated me thoroughly, because I can't talk about what I know with all my friends who only watch the anime... so if you love the anime, my suggestion to you is READ THE MANGA... it's at least a season further on, and there's so much more to the story than we're aware of so far in the anime. Totally worth it...

I love anime, but Attack on Titan was something I never thought I'd like, since I'm not big into action anime, but AoT is so much more, it is an EPIC series, and has the scale and scope of a lasting classic. The story is exciting, twisting, totally unique--I haven't seen anyone come close to copy this anime, AoT doesn't fit easily into any one genre. The animation is spectacular, just beautiful, every season is better. Highly recommended, the manga as well. AoT is also one of the best adaptations of a manga I've ever seen, makes the original content better in quite a few ways. The music is great, the Japanese voice acting is great, the story is great--I love it. The only downside is the English dubbing...kinda stinks. I don't tend to like dubs in general, but this one REALLY gets to me. Lots of voices that just don't fit, and overall the cast doesn't keep the gravity the original voices have. I understand why people want English dubs because you want to focus on the gorgeous animation, but I just can't stand the English cast, so I keep the subs.
