Oral-B Smart Series 6500 Review
The Oral-B 6500 Toothbrush is a leap from my previous electric version so much so many thoughts for this review however I am going to start with a list of what is in the box.2x Handles, His and Hers or just a travel spare maybe?4x Changeable brush heads - CrossAction, 3D White, FlossAction and Sensitive Clean1x Holder which stores 4 brush heads1x Charger1x SmartGuide which can be stuck to the wall1x Travel Case with space for 2 brush headsWith the extra handle I would say that you are defiantly getting value for money as it can be used by your partner or you can use it as a travel spare. The HandleFeels great in your hand and when you switch it on the battery life and bluetooth lights up in blue. There is two buttons on the front, one is for the power and the other is for bluetooth which you can connect to your phone (I'll come to this later on).The unit charges the same way as most other electric brushes, the blue light of the battery will slowly move up as it does and will completely disappear when fully charged which can take up to a whopping 24 hours. The manual states that the brush will last 10 days at a full charge for 2x 2 minute brushes. I can confirm that mine lasted 8 days for 2x 2:30 minute brushes so that's pretty close. I like the idea that you can see the power level on the handle so you know how close you are getting to recharge. There is also a light on the back of the toothbrush which will light up green every 30 seconds and than flash when your 2 minutes are up, this will also turn red when you apply to much pressure. I do think there are two many lights once everything is on, with the full battery life and bluetooth lit up in blue you also have the two buttons lit up and the back flashing every 30 seconds it probably is using a lot of the battery on this.Once you are done the battery light will stay lit for a few seconds to remind you how much battery life is left (just in case you didn't see it the two minutes you were brushing)EXTRASBrush HeadsThe pack comes with 4 different ones but you can get 6 different styles. These includePrecision Clean (Not supplied)Sensitive CleanFlossaction3D WhiteTrizone (Not Supplied)CrossActionI tend to stick to the Sensitive Clean as it's better for your gums and then switch to the 3D White for the last 40 seconds according to my program (Which I'll come back to).The FlossAction I can't tell if it works or not as I still use floss after my evening brush. The Crossaction I used with my last toothbrush and does seem to be a good alternative to the Sensitive which I have been informed by my dentist as the only brush I should be using as it's the only head that is good for your gums. This said I do alternate between the Sensitive and CrossAction for my main 2 minutes and swap to the 3D White at the end.Bluetooth and the AppConnecting to your phone can not be more simple, just turn on the bluetooth on your brush handle and then find it in the bluetooth setting on your phone and you will forever be connected. Make sure you download the app which also can be easily found by typing in OralB in your store. The app is actually pretty good, it's main use is the timer which will show you the 4 quadrants (30 seconds pre quarter) you go through while brushing and has a timer which will count up. No need to press any buttons it will automatically start the moment you turn on your brush. After each brush you will be reminded to floss and rinse and then you will be congratulated with a smiley face. The App stores all your data and history, not sure why you would want this but maybe parents may want to check up on their children. Also the app provides Achievements which can be collected like badges and given for things like 7 day brushing streak! this is pointless but I guess as Games consoles now have them then why not for a toothbrush! My only guess is that it's trying to get kids to brush more and this may be an incentive! My personal favorite feature of the app is that you can set up a journey whether it be fresh breath or more whiter teeth etc, I am using the whitening one at the moment, it will recommend you a range of supporting products (Surprisingly not all oral b), ask you how long you want it to run and than it will ask you to asses your whiteness of you're teeth than will also self assess through your journey. What happens is at the end of your 2 min brushing you change heads to the 3D White and then brush for a further 10 seconds per section which will be shown on your app. I am currently a week in and I can already see a difference! The SmartGuideThe SmartGuide is a small monitor that takes 2x AAA Batteries (Supplied) and shows the time! like your phone this will start counting when you start brushing your teeth so you can see how long it's been. There is also a 4 quadrant circle which will light up as you go through your sections and a smiley face which will wink at you when you are done and give an unhappy look if you brush too hard! A nice little extra but provide no real use as you have your mobile to do this for you!I hope I have covered enough in my review for you and if I haven't answered any of you're questions please leave a comment and I will do my best to get back to you. Personally while I think that some of modern day teeth cleaning is a bit overkill I do love this toothbrush and in just under two weeks I have seen already seen a change for the better!I hope you have found my review useful

Very powerful or gentle. Whatever you want it will meet your needs.
Fantastic product. This is not SMART series. This is PRO Series.SMART SERIES 6500 is a single handle with Tongue cleaning function.PRO SERIES 6500 comes with TWO handles (2x handles of PRO 6000 series) without Tongue cleaning function.I had another version (6000) which had some issue with the timer, thus, it was returned. But the handle itself was very good. I used the gentle mode for my dolly and it was really helping. It was a bit inconvenient keep changing the brushes for me and for my dolly. So, this time, I purchased two handled version (6500). I think the handle between 6000 and 6500 are the same but 6500 is for two handles. No tongue cleaning function on 6500. Looks exactly same. Performance wise, it is very satisfactory. Recommended product. There two main issues of using electric toothbrush in general.1. Electrical Toothbrushes cannot remove interdental food particles. You need to use floss. I do everyday. So it is not a problem to me.2. Many people using Electrical Toothbrushes apply either too much power or too little while brushing. Applying too much of power is not good for gums. This toothbrush (6000 / 6500) has pressure sensor. If too much of pressure is applied, it will reduce the turning speed to protect your gum. I found that it is very useful and helpful.

Excellent Toothbrush Handles
These toothbrushes are great. We've been using Braun toothbrushes for yeas and have always found them to be excellent. The brush I was using before this was the Braun Triumph 5000 with a separate monitor. This was good, but it was a bit of a pain having to replace the batteries in the clock (1st world problems) and I loved the idea of using an App on my iPhone. This not only allows you to see historic progress, but allows you to also record rinsing, flossing and tongue cleaning. In addition, If you use the brush without opening the App you can later synchronise your activity.Having recently been back to my dentist for my usual check up, he remarked on the significant improvement in the health of my teeth and gums.I would thoroughly recommend this product.I have recently purchased the even newer Braun Oral B Genius 9000 handle, passing the two Smart Series 6500 handles to my children to try and encourage better tooth care by them. I'm hoping to be better able to monitor their cleaning activity and therefore see an improvement in their oral health.

So far so good
Two toothbrushes for not much more than one elsewhere. I wasn't sure about buying these but after reading various reviews decided to give them a go.Included in the pack are two toothbrushes, a lcd timer, four different style heads, a charger and various plastic bits. The first charge takes forever, basically a full day, with subsequent charges being slightly quicker (though probably because it hasn't been completely drained). When you first turn the lcd timer on you have to set the clock and sync it to the toothbrush (by pushing the buttons inside the back near to the batteries and turning the toothbrush on) and after that it times your brushing and gives your a rating when you finish. The toothbrush itself is good with various modes, I have used the default setting and the gentle setting so far, and I particularly like that it flashes red and stutters if you push too hard. Our charger is not in the bathroom (no socket) so having a second handle is useful as we just share the same handle, swapping heads, and then when the battery runs out have a fully charged handle ready to go. We seem to get about 5 days use between two of us between charges which agrees with the manual.Overall a good toothbrush and I would recommend it.
