Really well sounding strings
Great set of strings.

Easy to play, warm sweet sound
My lovely Hofner HLE, with it’s spruce top, flame maple back/sides, black binding, never got played as the standard string action (4mm, 3mm) always felt a bit too high (I play Strats etc.). I thought what a waste, so I lowered the action a little using a Graphtech replacement saddle from Amazon. All it needed now were new strings. The Augustine Classic Blacks seemed a good bet what with their very long history and good reviews. The low tension set was to minimise stress on the lightly built top although I’ve read this may be of marginal benefit. Yes, I’ve have very little experience of restringing classical guitars so I had to research this. The D 4th is just long enough so be aware of this. Also, I found one end of each wound string is limp (floppy). The excellent Dan Erlewine’ repair guide basically says not to use this as a tie on the bridge block, so I followed this advice and after an hour or so all went well. The sound is fantastic with a warm mellow tone. Playability and volume are also good. Being nylon, they do need a quite a few days to stabilise so a lot of retuning about 1/2 a step ’up’ every time was needed. It’s now been transformed and I’m sure will get a lot more play. It’s obviously better to try different brands etc with any particular guitar, but for what they cost I doubt theirs anything much better.

The original and best sounding strings
I've tried countless strings in the quest for the best tone, but I always come back to Augustine Classic Black. They sound fantastic and the relatively lower tension really makes my guitar sing. Playability is great, vibrato is a breeze. I've not experienced any intonation issues and pricewise they are great value. On the negative side, for years the 4th string was barely long enough so you had to take real care when fitting it (although they've now increased the length of it on newer stock) and the 3rd string can sound a little tubby, but this is a common issue with many nylon string brands and in my opinion it's not significant enough here to bother me. Longevity is reasonable, but given the relatively low cost it's viable to change them pretty regularly if so desired. Definitely my favourite string set overall.

Good tonality and longevity
Good and prominant hights and slightly dull basses. Nice longevity and response. Used of flamenco blanca guitar. Tonality is rich and pleasant.

These have the advantage of low tension lower 3 strings
These have the advantage of low tension lower 3 strings - so are easier to play and are easier to "bend" the notes. Delivery was quick - it came the next day - so great service for those in a hurry. If you can plan ahead they also sell great value 3-pcacks

Mmm strings...
Wanted to buy something nice for my old 3/4 classical that's worth about the same as the price of the strings... Sounds better than I expected... The E string snapped after a week ( probably down to sharp bits on the bridge ) but there was enough spare string to re-tie it, probably not the most professional approach, but then I'm not a professional.

I have used Augustine strings on my folk guitar before and they do last a very long time. This particular string broke after over 6 years! I love the quality of these guitar strings and have always been buying this particular brand.

Spiele schon seit Jahren mit diesen Saiten. Lange Lebensdauer. Klarer, sauberer Klang. Absolut Stimmstabil, wenn nicht, liegt es an der Gitarre.
