Was it open????
The tub was quite literally open and the henna had dispersed all over the package. Waste of money.

Using henna successfully
This product is very fine powder, so better to apply and wash out than some I've used in the past. Rainbow henna is mixed in varying proportions with indigo (for black and brown shades) and cassia (for blonde) so although natural it is not pure henna. (Lots of helpful information on hennaforhair.com). And the Rainbow web site has a colour chart, though it sounds like there is a lot of indigo in some mixes.Suggestions for people trying out henna: * don't use the whole tub at once. Try just 20 or 25 grams the first time - you can always do it again for more colour if it's not enough. * add 50g or 75g plain yogurt after mixing the henna to get more quantity, you need about 6-8 fl oz for long hair, to cover enough, and 3-4 oz for roots, depending on the amount of hair you have. Mine is long but thin. * I add a little gentle shampoo to help it stay in better and wash out more easily, about 1Tbs. * acids like lemon juice or vinegar (instead of water) make it more permanent, so only use when you know you like the colour. Using just boiling water (and yogurt) will fade sooner. * hennaforhair.com says the colour is better developed (not brassy) when you leave it on longer than 1 hr. I keep it on 2-3 hours, 1hr is a bit bright. * try rinsing it out with conditioner, some say it's easier.
