A seriously good instrument (and not just for the price) - a perfect 25X image
I had doubts having read one reviewer's comment that this telescope has a magnification of around 4X, but I needn't have worried. Mine certainly has a magnification of around 25X as claimed - checked by viewing a post simultaneously with both eyes, one through the telescope and one without and estimating how many times the one image could fit into the other. I also compared it with my quality 7x50 binoculars and it gave much higher magnification. On careful examination the image is pretty much perfect - no colour fringing, no distortion at the edge of the field of view; a clear edge to the field of view; it really is optically very good indeed and no toy! I also like the fact that the optimal eye position for a full clear field of view is around 20mm back from the eyepiece, meaning that eyelashes don't get in the way, and the telescope can be used with or without glasses (the focus range is more than adequate for my short-sighted (1.5D) eyes). To use, you pull out the tubes to full length, and then push any of them back very slightly until sharp focus is obtained. Focusing on close objects down to about 15 feet, is possible, the closest focus being with the tubes pulled right out. This is not the 6.5 ft claimed, but it's adequate. On first use I panicked that focus was not possible, but then I pulled the tubes harder and all was fine, so make sure you do this! Once I'd done this I didn't have to do it again. If you want to look at the moon and stars, bear in mind that the experts recommend using 8 x 50 binoculars; emphasising light collection over magnification - with three times the magnification and a smaller lens this telescope is going to give a rather dim image, and nothing at all unless you focus on something brighter first. I've tried it on stars and got a clear image, but finding them is very hard, as is holding it steady. On a clearer night I will look at the moon, and Jupiter, and steadied against a door frame it might give good results, but even with binoculars I know how hard it is to steady them without a tripod. It's perhaps a pity that some sort of separate rotary focus adjustment is not provided, making it possible to pull out the telescope quickly and use it without refocusing every time, but that's being fussy! I bought this for my grandson, who will love the leather and brass finish - it's a super pirate-image scope, but also a seriously good optical instrument - a better choice than the cheaper shorter ones aimed at kids.

Argh, me hearties
Bought this as the wee man has a pirates maskObviously he had to have a pirate telescopeFor £20, it's a solid unit and simple to use, even if you are one of the "pfft, manual?" brigade. He took it swimming one day (piracy on the high seas?) and one of the other parents in the swimming class was quite surprised at the quality. The fun we have had with this...well worth the priceOn a practical, review-type note, the telescoping action is smooth, the focusing simple and the quality of the image was surprisingly crisp. And once compacted, it will quite happily fit in a telescope pouch (not supplied) at the waist of any self respecting pirate...

Good Quality
a nice telescope that look well but has a problem for anyone who wears glasses in that the brass is quite sharp and could easily scratch glasses.

Excellent little pocket telescope
The loop on the side of the case ripped off quite easily, but the other loop stitched next to the zipper seems much tougher, and the case is quite nice. But the telescope itself is exceptional. It looks fantastic and is easy to use. It can be held quite steady, especially with extra support, and the image is clear enough and the magnification high enough to read very small text on a distant sign. There is no significant dimming of the image, so it can be used at night, and also for low magnification astronomy - viewing the moon, sun, planets, double stars, magnificent open clusters, etc. If you turn it around it is also a very good low power microscope, and can turn the tiniest pixels of a high definition display into giant red, green and blue bands.

It's small and does the job.
I got what I paid for at a price that was reasonable. It has to be held absolutely in line with the object and has a very narrow field of vision. The plus side, for me, is its size. During lockdown my wife and I have been taking regular walks around nearby lakes and developed an interest in the wild life. I wanted a small robust telescope which would easily fit into my pocket and this one does the job.

Piacevole sorpresa

Ok come giocattolo
