Disappointed at quality
I really like the look of this mill, read all the reviews and finally made up my mind to purchase it since it’s not cheap and coffee is not a must for me. However when I got it, the box is a little damaged and when I open it and noticed the burr is actually defective, then I contacted Amazon to get a replacement. It took longer than usual because of this special time period and when I open the new one, the box is good this time but the burr is in the same condition.... I posted photos I took from both mills. I’m not an expert of this but I’m also not convinced this should be expected.I still gave it a 3 because I do like the look of this mill

A delicate and exquisite piece of artwork.
Very nice!!! Everything is just nicely made. I was quite impressed the moment I unboxed this coffee mill, the actual product looks even better than the photo. It is great not only for grinding beans, but can also be an elegant kitchen decor. The grinding is very easy (with also a broad range of coarseness to adjust) and the cleaning can simply be done with a paint/coffee brush. For me, it is definitely worth the extra bucks for this kind of quality.

Very expensive paperweight
I decided to make the switch to grinding my own coffee. This brand has a sterling reputation, excellent warranty and looks really good sitting on the counter of my period home. This morning after haveing used the last of my Yuban, I made a cup with some fresh roasted beans. I like a coarse grind on my coffee which this produced, but.......it took me 10 minutes to grind 3 tablespoons of beans. The beans do not feed into the grinder. Since it is a manual grinder I had no fears about sticking my finger in to force the beans into the burr. But I had to do it continually. Shaking, tapping, banging it on the counter did squat. Nope, about every 5 seconds I had to stick my finger in and shuffle things around to get the thing to finish the job. Unless the manufacture contacts me with a solution I will be returning it for something that actually will do the job. It's a shame 'cuz it really is purdy......

Perfect
I’ve had this one for 4 years and moved from Germany to Colorado, again to a new place in Colorado and finally to Virginia. It still works perfectly. It’s able to adjust to grind the fines I’ve ever see to course that’s perfect for a French press. It’s expensive but the quality is there.

Beautiful but useless paperweight.
Completely useless for anything other than large grind (french press). The grinder doesn't lock in @ a grind setting and will skip around to different grind setting all over as you rotate the grind knob. A $40 Hario burr grinder (or any of its $20 knock-offs) will give you a better and more consistent grind size than this Zassenhaus. Looks great but completely useless.

A Really nice present...
This old school coffee grinder went down a treat and it was the perfect gift for my coffee-loving son. What is nice about it, is that he needs to do a little work for his morning coffee which involves a little bit of elbow grease Don't let this put you off this fantastic old school coffee grinder, it is so perfect for a nice cuppa, ground down with fresh beans. This old fashioned and well-made machine is good old fashioned german techno and it is built to last. I love the era and old school family connection. There isn't much of it around anymore and everything seems to be made by machines now. A lovely old school German Company which deserves more accolade and recognition for what they are about and what they do...

The Most Beautiful Thing In My Kitchen!
This is not just a beautifully crafted coffee grinder but a grinder with the type of very high quality one would expect from a German manufacturer like Zassenhaus. This have so far completely evolved my view of what really high quality coffee is and will probably continue to do so for a long time.

Perfect grind for those who love the old school ways..
Elbow grease not included but this is a very high quality item and delivers the grind as you want it. Good for one cup of coffee, not ideal if you want to make large amounts at at time.

The best manual coffee mill ever- I have a peugeot and another zassenhouse, but the La Paz is the leader of the pack by miles. The grind is constant- on all the other models I owned, the ajustment screw moves when you grind. On La Paz, it stays constant. My warmest recommendations.
