Great little gadget
*Please be aware this review is being written from a completely blind person's perspective.*Great idea, I use a lot of batteries, great way to dispose of them. I obviously, can’t use the tester, but I bought one for my mum as well, as she uses a lot for my nephew’s toys.

GREAT!!
I used to keep old/used batteries in a smallish plastic bag supplied by my local council, and kept in a kitchen drawer. It was not ideal, and I had quite a few old very batteries that had leaked and the inside of the bag was not very pleasant.I decided to buy this, purely as a good sized storage. The tester built in to the lid is a pleasant bonus ( although I do not use it often). I also like the fact that the lid has a hole that is permanently open and I can just drop any battery in to the container, without having to open it or unscrew a lid first.I did buy another container that was a metal can, but it looked and felt even more utilitarian than this (and I had to prise the lid off each time I wanted to add any batteries.I do not routinely use the tester in the lid - I usually know when batteries are dead, and do not bother to test them again if I am replacing them, but it is not a bad feature. It does not bother me in the slightest that I need to press a button to test a battery (some reviewers are negative about this).I am quite happy with this one, and it sits happily on my kitchen counter in a corner, but could just as easily sit in a cupboard anywhere.EDIT June 2021: I still like this, and I have been using the battery tester, i find it convenient and useful.

My little boy loves this..!
I wanted a dedicated holder for all the loose batteries that the kids seem to have accumulated over the years! When I spotted this and it included it's own tester I quickly popped an order in- which, through the benefit of Prime, promptly arrived a day or two later. So far it only has one major floor - I've only spent about 2mins using the product myself; my 8yr old was very intrigued by the design & simplicity of the bin that he quickly volunteered to put it to the test. That was about 2 weeks ago and since then he has scoured the kitchen drawers and raided his brothers rooms to check on old batteries :-)Very simple yet practical design and having all the old batteries stored safely away in this container is brilliant - and so easy to take along with you when next off to the tip, so that they can be properly disposed of & recycled. It's a fab 'gadget' is a little larger than I thought it would be/looked in the pictures (but this is only a good thing) and the colour scheme/design makes it stand out.Really pleased with it and hopefully one day I'll get to use it again too!!

Amazing gadget. Every house should have one!
I always struggled with getting rid of used batteries, I often tried to chuck them in the bin, and my wife would get cross with me, I would then try and leave them in a drawer but they will get mixed with new batteries and I would get confused and upset. This container for battery recycling is absolutely brilliant, now I have a clear place where to put used batteries, and will only need to take them to a public recycling point 1-2 times a year. I have had it for a month and it's already saved me the value of its cost, as I found out some batteries I was about to throw away were still full or half full so I kept them. The only reason I don't give it 5 start is that it can only check 4 types of batteries, which are the most common batteries used, it would have been perfect if it could also check the status of other types of batteries like the rectangular battery or the tiny round ones you get in wrist watches and small toys.

Great Way to Test and Dispose of Batteries Responsibly
Given some of the news stories recently about fires being caused by regular batteries being disposed of in regular waste collections, I decided that it's a good time to be more responsible about the batteries we get rid of at the end of their lives. This box will hold a decent amount of spent cells, it comes with a useful addition of a battery life tester on the top (which bizarrely requires batteries to make it work!)Once it's full, it will make it easy to transport them to the local recycling centre for disposal in the proper place rather than shoving harmful chemicals into landfill.

Good to have product
I was having trouble with disposing batteries as I would often misplace them or forget about disposing them. This helps to check if battery is good to throw away or still useful. I was about to throw batteries which had full charge left and most of them had half charge left. Very useful.

Although this product is good, the manufacturer has wired it up wrong the AA / AAA are not wired up correctly and when you put an AA battery in you need to press the AAA button, small problem when you realise. It was only the fact I was testing brand new batteries that I did realise
