Toy train.
Solid toy for my 7yr old nephew, who is in to trains.

Top toy. Going strongly after four years.
This engine is awesome. It is not as strong or as fast as the other big engines but it is the only one that has connectors both in front and the back and can be in the middle of longer trains. See video and image. We purchased it in 2017 when my son was two years old and it survived dropping from height, stomping on it and other toddler tortures and it still goes strongly without any issues to offer joy now that he appreciates it as an engine. As with every such a toy, rechargeable batteries with a charger are a must, as the battery goes quickly. Nowadays, it does not even need an adult to change the battery. It also needs an occasional effort to remove the hair wrapped on the wheel axis from carpets etc. My only complaint is the lack of a stop timer, though the humming it was a good way to locate the engine when stuck under furniture. I wish brio was making other models that have both front and back connectors

Nice addition to our wooden train setup.
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my 3 year old son. The Brio range is quite expensive so we normally go for a cheaper brand when it comes to wooden railway accessories. In this case however, I'd definitely recommend paying more for a quality product. This little train looks good and runs well. The unit can pull 2-3 carriages up a slope on the track and doesn't struggle at all. It can run forwards and backwards and has a little white light at the front. The first batteries I used lasted about 6-7 weeks with reasonable use which I'm more than happy with. It's our first motorised engine for our wooden train set and I'd definitely buy this again in different styles. Pros: - looks good - easily pulls a couple of carriages - decent battery life - good quality feel Cons: - quite expensive for one engine

Great little train
This worked so perfectly. It runs well on brio and “brio copy” tracks. We have a mixture of both genuine and fake track from from gifts and donations so we were worried that it might only work with the “official” brio track. It is a really powerful little train and pulls lots of carriages!!! Even over bridges and points !

Great Product
My little boy (and I) love this little train. It’s is what it is and what it’s says on the tin. Great little product

Great Buy (faulty product)
The Good: bought the Brio Freight engine, with both front and rear connectors this engine can work in conjunction with another. The push/pull feature is great, placing this car in the middle of a 12 car chain (working with the Brio Big Red) my 3 year old son delights as the train navigates his tracks. The Bad: as suggested in other posts the engine did stop working, however the vendors customer service is exceptional and we are happy with the replacement. Note# With any battery powered engines they seem to struggle to mount ramps, especially when attached to more than two cars. we cut strips of fabric tape and lined the wheel grooves on the ramps and now the wheels do not slip and the trains happily traverse my sons most creative layouts.

Cute, strong and mute little engine
This engine is quite different from the Mighty Red or Green from Brio, and I think it's good this way. It only use one AA battery (2 AAA for the Mighty one), but can pull two wagons and climb without problem. You can also put it in the centre of the the convoy to help other engines to pull. It is that versatile. It has lights but no sound...which my son misses. It is also gorgeous and the switch forward and reverse though discreet it is easy to operate. Overall, it is a good engine and an excellent complement to the mighty's. And in a world full of cheap and low quality toys, this Brio is awesome, it seams well done and sturdy. So the price seems adequate.
