Anarchy Forever...
Before I start this I am not an Anarchist, the title is just to represent the core issue that I feel this book deals with. Now that is out of the way, I will state that this is an essential read in my view for anyone let alone fans of Orwell's 1984 and animal Farm, which are definitely the foundations of this literature. V for Vendetta is a word of "big brother" taken to new levels with a well oiled system of control and primitive dominance. So it's nothing revolutionary but it's elements and the story's anti-hero V combine to make the story more than memorable.Speaking of V, the book shows him for what he really is, an Anarchist. Not this idealistic hero we see in the film, while he is still technically fighting against "Nazi's" in the book, its not so black and white; more muddy grey. V can still be looked upon as a hero but in all essence; a killer. The brilliant thing is Moore himself has pushed neither system into our face and said this is right, this is wrong. He has created a world of control where many characters including Evey bring about questions to what V is doing and if violence will solve the issues of a violent system. This is why the book stands out so well and has become so good at what it does, it makes you think for yourself unlike Orwell which I feel was much more politically one side driven. This will keep you awake as you read through and it is worth it just for the fact it will bring up morals that so little today touch. An outstanding read and piece of work.

A great graphic novel
An excellent graphic novel by the greatest graphic novelist of them all! This story was first issued in the early 1980's, as part of a British comic book called 'Warrior'. It was concluded in the late 1980's, after 'Warrior' had ceased operating and DC Comics had taken over the title. The story is set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic (alternative history) Britain in the 1990s. A fascist state has arisen, led by the Norsefire party. Opponents of the state are rounded up in concentration camps and exterminated. A revolutionist - and anarchist - named 'V' (dressed in black and wearing a Guy Fawkes mask) has designed a complex and elaborate plan to bring down the government, and to convince the people of the need to rise up and rebel. As this plan is put into motion, V meets a young woman, Evey Hammond, who joins him on his quest. This is an excellent book. The titular character and protagonist - V - is a great anti-hero. The political ideas invoked in the story, centering on anarchism and fascism, are dealt with in a sophisticated manner. This graphic novel serves as the basis for the 2006 film, which I thought was well done.I fully recommend this item for those interested in reading political-orientated fiction.

Superb comic book!
I have to admit I am not a comic books fan, truth is I hardly can call myself comic books reader, but this work is just a master piece. So why I would buy a comic book in first place you may ask? Well I am a big fan of the movie based on this work and I though I would get it and see original source so to speak. But got movie and comic book can't be more different that this. Sure some may say that comic book is much more better that a movie, but in my perspective of view both movie and comic book are great in there own sense. Any ways back to comic book.First thing is that this comic book is defiantly for more that one read, its not that is hard in sense of understanding or reading, but there is just so much to it and you can find lot more meaning to everything while reading again from the start and everything becomes much more clearer that it was at first time. At least that is my experience. Also it has this "dark" feeling and atmosphere that I do like especially if you are comparing it to the movie.Overall its just great read even if you are not a comic books reader, it has hero (or should I say anti-hero) that you never saw in any comic books and if you liked movie ,but maybe wanted to go deeper this comic book is for you.

A chilling look at a fascist future
I really enjoyed V For Vendetta. I didn’t love it though and I enjoyed the movie so much I expected the graphic novel to be great. V For Vendetta is split into three books which were originally published separately. The first book is brilliant, the second one dips a bit and the third book is in between good and great. I wanted to give this graphic novel five stars and based solely on the first book I would. However, the other two books are never quite as good as the opening section and my enjoyment dipped a little. I was pleasantly surprised to discover reading a graphic novel isn’t much different from reading a ‘normal’ one. I loved the creepy fascist world Moore and Lloyd create. V and Evey’s world is very creepy and frighteningly realistic. I had chills. V For Vendetta was very good and I might start to read graphic novels regularly.

Great story, great book
I used to own the individual issues of this series but over the years they got dog-eared and ripped, so I thought I'd buy this compiled edition. It's a really great book and remarkably light due to the type of paper used. It has a great quality feel to it - like a good graphic novel/comic book should. If you've already owned the comic then this is recommended because it's such a high quality collection. If you don't know the story, or have only seen the film, then this is going to be a brilliant experience for you and it really does set Alan Moore apart from his contemporaries at telling brilliant stories. I'm certain if this was a 'proper' book then Alan Moore would be considered an equal of Graham Greene or George Orwell in the literary canon of social commentary and dystopian science fiction. The story weaves a beautiful journey and every frame is drawn to perfectly capture the mood.As a standalone graphic novel, this is one of the best purchases you could possibly make.

Good story and good art
The story is good, makes you think. The art is good too. Only complaint is the quality of the paper, but not a huge problem.
