Linn Sampler 4 / Various

This is a fine collection / sampler of music from the Linn Records catalog. Six of the fifteen selections are popular music and the remaining nine are classical. Once gets nearly fifty-five minutes of interesting music by a variety of artists recorded in audiophile quality sound. The sound is indeed superb whether listening in 5.1 SACD surround, two-channel SACD or ordinary two-channel stereo on the CD layer. The surround sound tends to be more of the "ambience" style were the main sound is located in the front soundstage and the surrounds add a feeling of the room.I highly recommend this disc and the whole series of Linn SACD samplers to audiophiles and/or music lovers.

The content was very well recorded and quite pleasant, not enough variety for my taste. I would give it 4 stars if my copy had not skipped in two SACD players. Returned it.

It has some very good recordings, and music selection was decent overall. Certainly some good sound demos to be had.

Don't get what all the fuss is about from these so called Superaudio discs. Bit of a disappointment frankly

Un disco come questo non si acquista per il repertorio. Lo si desidera perchè si vuole "sentire" fin dove può arrivare l'evoluzione tecnologica nel trattare il segnale audio. E, in questo caso, il risultato è buono. Anche con un impianto "medio" il risultato è ragguardevole e di buon livello. Dinamica e coloratura del timbro sono significativi. Peccato che non tutte le produzioni audio siano realizzate in questo modo....immagino per problemi di costo...Ogni tanto, però, piace "sentire bene" anche senza muoversi di casa, per andare a sentire la musica dal vivo, che è e rimane il modo migliore per goderne.
