A plastic compost bin to replace an old rusting metal one. Just fits the required space and works well. Not much more to say.

This is 5L capacity, which, as a single person, I find I fill it up in about a week. I use a Sainsbury's compost caddy liner, which is biodegradable, and usually put a folded sheet of kitchen paper in the bottom. As a former lecturer in horticulture, here are thinks you shouldn't put in it:onions, leeks, shallots and garlic, meat (attracts rats), any dressed salads.Things you might not know you can put in: the fluff from the tumble dryer, cotton, wool. Tea/teabags are fine because most of the tannins are removed by brewing.

For £14.99, I got exactly what I wanted here.I got a sturdy food waste bin, with a carry handle and lockable lid.Also to get me started I got a roll of 5L biodegradable bags.Such a great idea and it's less going to the landfill, I just basically tie the bag when it's full and bury it in my flowerbeds, or put it into my worm bin.

Bought this along with a metal cat litter scoop for doing a weekly clean up of the garden (big garden with 4 dogs) it's great for carrying, handle is long enough that there's no chance of hitting my hand, it also locks the lid to keep out the rain (keep it outside obviously) and the bags are a great size to tie up and put in the brown bin (empty after each clean up otherwise the bag starts to decay in the caddy - same goes for If you're using it for food waste, don't leave it too long). The silver is different too, nicer than the standard green imo.

I ended up buying 2 of these.Perfect for not taking up much room in the kitchen. Great purchase, very happy.

Closing the lid is a bit fiddly when you have your compost bag in, if you move the handle forward clip the lid in place the move the handle back it does fit properly. It is a sturdy bin and looks better in my kitchen than the brown one my local council gave me.
