The best oral hygiene product I have ever owned
I took delivery of this on 6th November 2020 following a check up with my dentist. At my last visit to my hygienist in early 2020 she was unhappy with my oral hygiene and put me on a three monthly return. I brush with a normal toothbrush and toothpaste, then follow up with an electric toothbrush. So I am quite thorough, but my problem has always been flossing. I have tried everything including floss, floss sticks and those different size interdentals. The problem I have is the gaps between my teeth go from very, very tight in several places to quite wide in others. When using interdentals I need at least three different sizes. To be honest the whole routine was so trying I never really got into the habit, hence all the troubles with my hygienist. The visits were very painful - both for the earbashing I got, and the removal of the plaque. Hence the 3 months and the naughty step. When I visited my dentist for a check up in November she noticed the same problem and when I told her it was flossing she suggested a water flosser. So I ordered the Water-Pik and tried it. I bought the stand mount with separate handgrip for two reasons. I didn’t want to keep filling the reservoir whilst flossing, and I didn’t want to hold a heavy flosser in my hand whilst flossing. OK, so this is no use for travelling, but it’s great at home. I found it a delight to use. So much that I look forward to using it. I set myself the goal of using it every single night before I go to bed and despite some close calls I have achieved that so far. (If I miss one I’ll catch up in the morning.) The reservoir is large enough for me to do my whole mouth in one setting, and the handgrip is light and very easy to direct. So my purchase logic was correct. I also enjoy the feeling. Every night I floss I can see between two and five visible food particles dislodged. I am sure there are many more smaller particles I can’t see. Since I floss after brushing my teeth (both manual and electric) I can see that brushing isn’t removing those particles. Imagine how many would build up over a six month period. Anyway, to the point of the story, yesterday I went back for my dental check up and hygienist appointment. As usual I was dreading the usual earbashing. To my intense surprise both my dentist said my mouth was I perfect condition. Healthy gums, no plaque, nothing between the teeth. In dental speak, if you know this, I got 0s for everything. This has never happened before. My hygienist asked me how this happened and I told her about the water flosser. The dentist wasn’t very surprised as she has seen me a few times in between. Anyway, in summary, if your challenges are similar to mine, I can’t recommend this product highly enough. I confirm this is a genuine private review. I’m posting such a lengthy review to help people who may have similar oral hygiene problems to mine. P.S. my wife also uses it but she has always been a good flosser so never had my challenges.

Highly recommend
Brilliant product; I’ve had it for approximately 7 years and it’s still going! Gives the perfect clean and floss with its many tips! Highly recommended!

Works well, but a bit n the cheap side
It really is a very useful thing. It complements the flossing. You can floss less and it takes stress of the teeth. Probably better than oil-pulling too. It seems to be one of the best water flossers on the market. The water container is the right size. I only use one - the highest - power setting, but it is strong enough. The handle is not perfectly comfortable and the machine a bit flimsy. But that is unimportant. I am glad I bought this flosser and don't know of a better alternative. However there is one serious flaw: The water container deforms if you put very hot water in it. Heat is the best disinfectant, hence a different - more expensive obviously - material should have been used. It would be ideal if one could run boiling water through the whole system. I haven't tried that. But I did try disinfecting the container and ordering replacement wasn't 100% straightforward. Including the delivery it ended up costing £20. I would have preferred paying £20 more for the original unit with a better container. Like the toothbrush, the water flosser is a dental/medical device and saves future visits to the dentist. So what are £20, or £120 for that matter, compared to that? Personally I would prefer paying double for a medical grade flosser made of stainless steel, glass and silicone through which I could just run boiling water once a week, or even triple for one that would boil the water itself and have a simple thermometer on the container for ease of use. Also it comes with this patronizing shaver socket plug. I have to use an adapter and the ones I found fit so-so. I have understanding for the manufacturer marketing to people unwilling to take care of their health before they get sick, some ignorant enough to take their baths with a hairdrier and install a coffee-maker in the shower if you let them have a real socket there. But it is my review, and personally I would love a medical grade water flosser with a 3-pin plug. If the flosser survives a few years, I will amend the rating to 5.

Very, very good
I was sceptical about how good this would be but decided to give it a go to try to slow or stop the development of periodontal disease and gum pockets. It was a sort of "try anything once" decision, aided by a judicious price reduction resulting, no doubt, from Amazon tracking my interest in it. First impressions were of a slight disappointment; very plasticky (as you have to expect, I guess) and a part of you wonders how it comes to cost as much as it does. The mains cord is just long enough to be useful (in my bathroom) but the coiled hose which feeds the flosser head is too short really; another 15 or 20cm would be better. The instructions are pretty good, and there's an assortment of different heads / probes for the device. So far, I've really only used the "basic" one (there are three basic ones provided, colour coded). The periodontal probe looks pretty mean, and there are warnings only to use it on the lowest pump speeds. Operationally, no problems. It's simple to understand and simple to use. The reservoir holds enough for a good old cleaning session (and yes, DO read the bit about filling it with warm water - put cold in it and you'll be on the ceiling). I started cleaning on the lowest pressure setting and thought it a bit tame so cranked it up to pretty much max. Crikey. It's a little like having needles jabbed in your gums, but - without getting too nitty-gritty in the detail - you wouldn't believe the stuff this thing shifts from between your teeth and in your gums, especially the first time you use it. I've been using it for three days now and I'm impressed. My gums are noticeably less inclined to bleed when brushing and the slight inflammation I noticed, before using this machine, has gone. This is just using plain warm water twice a day though earlier today I did pour a few ml of 12% hydrogen peroxide into an almost-full reservoir of water to have a go at any bacterial activity. (NOTE: 12% peroxide is waaay too strong to be used undiluted, and don't even think about using even a dilute solution until you've got used to the way the jet of water behaves and how to manipulate the probe. It'll bleach your clothes if it gets on them, and if you get it in your eyes you're potentially in real trouble). Now thinking about buying a "portable" version for when I'm travelling. I shall miss this extra level of cleanliness when I'm away, if not. My only reservation is the plasticky lightweight build. Waterpik guarantee it for two years so we'll see. Otherwise I heartily recommend this to you if you have - or want to avoid - problems with gums. FOLLOWUP REVIEW 7 DEC: I try to make sure I use this at least once a day, ideally morning after breakfast and in the evening before bed. It's made a huge difference to my gum health; went for my 6 monthly hygienist and dentist checkup the other day and they both remarked on the significant improvement. Dentist said that periodontal disease which was becoming very evident has been stopped in its tracks, and largely disappeared. He reckons that if I keep going the way I am, the gum pockets which were forming will heal and prolong the life of my teeth and gums. I'm very, very pleased.

Great Waterpik with lots of pressure options
This waterpik is great. The different pressure settings are great and the different tips allow for all sorts of cleaning situations. The waterflow is nice and even and overall we are really pleased with this machine. Just note that the plug is a European plug, so if you don't have an outlet like this in your bathroom, make sure to have an adapter on hand.

Excellent water flosser !!!
Ok, so this is my second Waterpik, the first was recommended to me by my dentist because I suffered from bleeding gums and regular, expensive and painful trips to the hygienist. After a few tries and getting used to the water pressure, no more issues with my gums. You notice straight away how effective it is, your mouth feels really clean and you can't help running your tongue around the edges as though you have just been to the dentist feeling! My old one packed in and I bought this because it had great reviews. With this being my 2nd Waterpick I immediately noticed some improvements:- 1. The lid is now hinged and no longer falls off when you are trying to refill the reservoir. 2. There is an on/off switch on the implement which is brilliant because that means you can stop the water flow which helps when you need to take a breather. 3. It is not as bulky as my last one and sits nicely in my bathroom unit. 4. The cord is slightly longer so no issues on it coming out, see pics above. This is much more effective than manual flossing because it reaches all the nooks and crannies that you cannot see. I have also introduced it to my 9yr old son who thinks this is a great water machine for now but please ensure the setting is very low at first because the water jet is very strong. As soon as you get used to it you can up the setting as you prefer. Unfortunately my Waterpik developed a fault after a few days and keeps switching itself off. I have contacted the seller and they are sending my a replacement which is great. Don't let this put you off buying a Waterpik, otherwise I wouldn't have asked for a replacement. I just wanted to give you an honest review.

Does the job but the design has to be improved
It works good but after a year or so of usage, it simply stops working. Maybe they should look at making it more robust? Just a thought...
