Sleek looking with plenty of tunes to choose from
1 BY ONE Easy Chime Wireless Doorbell Door Chime KitThis doorbell kit comes supplied with a single bell push, along with two base units, all neatly packaged within a strong box. The base units plug into a normal UK 3 pin socket, you do need to ensure there is space available on the right of the base unit as that is where the push button controls are. Each base unit is made from strong black plastic with a silver plastic bezel around the front. The face of the base unit is made from shiny black plastic with a diamond effect look to it, part of the face has small open slots which lead to the speaker. It is quite handy having two base units as that means you can have them plugged into different parts of the household, you can also choose a different door chime for each base unit if you wish. The bell push is easy to fix, you can either use the provided screws or double sided pad that's also in the box. This has a working range of up to 100 metres so you could even have a base unit in the garden shed if it is within the working range. This is a doddle to setup, once the bell push is in place just mount the base units in any convenient 13 amp socket. You can run through all of the available door chimes by pressing one of the buttons. There are 36 tunes in total so there is bound to be one that you like. There are four control buttons on each base unit which control various functions. The volume is quite loud although you can turn this down if required. This is not as loud or as noticeable as the old fashioned ringing bell or buzzer, but you do have two base units so you can place these so the door bell can clearly be heard in all parts of the household. These do look quite attractive when plugged in with their sleek black design, along with the nice blue glow which lights to show they are active. The sound quality is good to, much better than some of the earlier incarnations of this type of doorbell - Recommended!Contents -2 x Door chimes1 x Bell push1 x Battery1 x Screwdriver1 x Double sided mounting pad1 x Pack of screws1 x User ManualIf you have found my review at all helpful I would very much appreciate if you could click the 'Helpful' button below, thank you.

Perfect for easily amused plebs like me.
First off I must warn that the reasons for my 5 star review may not have universal appeal. I'll begin with the stuff that probably does: it's sturdy, easy to fit and to operate and, while it wouldn't be my first choice of ornament, it's not hideously ugly either. It's quite loud as well so you're not likely to miss the parcel delivery / gas man. You can easily change the tune to something seasonal if desired. Now, the thing I really love is exactly what might put off most sane adults. It comes with a large range of chime options (sorry, can't remember the exact number - I'm sure it must give that info in the product description though.) These are easy to change, and every single one is quite long, loud, tinny and incredibly cheesy (Oh Susanna / You Are my Sunshine / Yankee Doodle Dandy / Happy Birthday / Jingle Bells etc.) What's more, we have one of the chimes in the hall and another in the lounge / dining room. They are spaced sufficiently far apart for me to hear the chime wherever I am in the house or garden, but also far enough apart to prevent them chiming in unison. What normally happens when we have visitors now is that I answer the door to find my friends & family either cracking up laughing, singing along to whatever is playing or simply looking faintly shocked. As I usher them into the lounge it is usually still playing, so they are then treated to the sound of both versions playing off kilter for a few seconds. I hadn't really wanted them playing off-time from each other, but it seems to fit the general cheesiness and lack of sophistication. It's an ice-breaker, I can tell you. It is not a classy sound, it is not soothing and they don't have any of the rock'n'roll greats on there. But my daughter loves it and it keeps the people I love amused, so that's good enough for me.

I would have expected better audio coming from the mains powered chimes
I haven't had this doorbell for long but it works straight out of the bag. I'm not that taken with the sound quality of the door chimes. I had a battery powered stand alone chime previously and it had a much louder and clearer sound from it. I would have expected better audio coming from the mains powered chimes, but they are quite small so perhaps technically it's not feasible to install better speakers in them. This is the good bit. I bought these because I have another 1Byone product which works really well. I have the PIR alarm set up at the side of my house so I know when people are out there. This has a standalone battery operated buzzer in the conservatory which is currently switched to silent. The other evening I was sitting and the doorbell went - it was dark by this time. I went to the door but there was nobody there. So I sat back down and a few minutes later the doorbell starts again. This time I saw the red mist, grabbed a torch and intended to catch whoever was doing this in the act by sneaking out the conservatory and rounding them up from the back. When I got outside I could see next door's mutt in the field but having patrolled round my house, no sign of any doorbell ringer. Bemused, I went back inside. Until two days later when a friend parked their car down the side of my house where the PIR is and the doorbell started to ring before he was even out of the car.It dawned on me... the PIR is setting off the doorbell! If I had the PIR alarm bell switched to on it would be ringing at the same time as the doorbell and would have been obvious but because it was only the door chimes ringing it threw me. It was obviously the dog in the field that had set it off the previous time. Oh how I laughed!Be warned - if you buy these door chimes and already have another of 1Byone's products - hell could break loose!Apart from that, I like their products and won't hesitate in buying more if the need arises.
