Brilliant Book
I used to paint a lot, but had an enforced long break and needed something to help me back in. While this is good for beginners, I also found it exactly the right level to remind me of the various techniques, and the very useful, detailed instruction for a few projects just the right level. I was making by own decisions again by the end. Ideal!

it's an amazing book to have or pass on to someone else when you've finished with it.
This book is amazing! I have so many books lying around that I will never open, but this book is a work of art in itself. It explains everything you need to know as a beginner in a very clear way, and it is not boring. It also has amazing paintings inside. I have seen the author's YouTube tutorials and was amazed at how clearly he explains watercolour techniques such as lines and washes. If it costs a few pounds more than the Kindle version on Amazon, buy the paper version — it's an amazing book to have or pass on to someone else when you've finished with it.

Fine book, but the content is all on Youtube
Paul Clark is a fabulously talented watercolour artist whose video demonstrations of watercolour techniques on his Youtube channel are some of the best and most useful content for any aspiring artist. He promotes this book on his Youtube channel, so I ordered it. Thing is, there is nothing in the book which you won’t learn from watching his Youtube channel; in fact the Youtube channel has wider and more varied content for techniques. That said, the book itself is very well produced and presented. It’s a softcover of manageable dimensions to be portable, and the artistic images are of very high quality. I have no idea how many of these books Mr. Clark has sold, but I wish him every success. If you’re on a budget and have a good internet connection, my advice would be to watch the videos and learn that way, as you may then watch the actual techniques in action in real time.

Perfect guide for beginners and beyond
Paul Clark, clearly an accomplished artist, writer and educator, has pulled out all the stops to create a first class guide for aspiring watercolourists. Techniques, tips and materials are covered logically and progressively through a series of delightful projects, all illustrated with his own beautiful work. Mouth-watering stuff - I can’t wait to get started! It’s wonderful value for a tenner, too, printed on good quality paper and the illustrations superbly reproduced.

Great teacher
I love Paul Clark's teaching style; he has been very helpful to me as a beginner. I've watched and learned from his YouTube channel, but I got the book because sometimes I do not have internet. There is a calmness in the cadence of his teaching online and it comes through in his writing as well

Easy to follow, instructive and beautifully illustrated book
The previous excellent reviews helped me choose this book. Just starting to follow it after purchasing my art tools. Great that it gives low cost alternatives that will still produce quality work. Steps and instructions so easy to follow. The advice on ‘stretching’ your paper before starting, really works! Thoroughly recommend this book if you’re starting out or trying to improve your painting skills.

A Really Useful Book
I bought this to support the author Paul Clark. It's a great accompaniment to his YouTube channel. Buy it. It's well worth it!

Why do authors shoot themselves in the foot like this?
I am a huge fan of Paul Clark and watched everything on his You Tube channel. Purchasing this book seemed like the next logical step as he actively promotes it on his channel. The book is great, it has Paul's easy manner and thorough teaching style, which beginners will find useful. What does really, really grind my gears, is that you will get nothing new from this book if you follow and watch him on You Tube! In fact, his channel has all of the contents of this book and much more, for free! Buy the book by all means, if you prefer to have a physical book, but be aware that you can watch videos of the content and tutorials on his channel without spending a penny. I do not understand why authors do this.
