Excellent rich black ink ideal for Pelikan and other 'dry' pens; bargain price
Purchased to replace a fast emptying 30ml bottle. The product illustration and description are in apparent conflict. This is the bottled ink and not a pack of cartridges and also supplied in the larger 62.5ml size; 30ml is standard. "PELIKAN 329144 Ink Cartridge" (as incorrectly described) is a black ink from within their 4001 range; they also have a more expensive Edelstein range of 'luxury' inks that includes some different colours. There are about eight colours within the 4001 range and they are fairly routine; the lighter tones of blue, green and the yellow-orange group are wholly absent. The entire range is regarded as slow-flowing or 'dry' and consequently an excellent match to their own range of fountain pens which are considered to be very wet writers regardless of nib grades. As most major Western brand pens (Parker, Waterman, Sheaffer, Cross) are also regarded as 'wet', Pelikan's inks could be a very good match to any of them. The black ink is very intense, a 'solid' colour that does not show any transparency as may be experienced with many other black inks. It has worked very well in a number of pens fitted with Medium and Broad nibs when it creates high visual contrast. It isn't too fussy about paper quality and will work equally effectively on cheap copy paper as on expensive 'fountain pen' paper. The only time it did not work well was when briefly used in a Fine-nibbed Pilot Capless as it was probably too viscous for the narrow nib; a lighter and relatively wet ink worked far better in that instance but poor nib adjustment may have been a contributing cause. Drying time will normally be around ten seconds. Because of its intense tone, it may be worth running a spot check with a paper for any bleed-through from the writing side although it has not been a frequent issue; thin papers are most susceptible. Feathering has not been encountered. Pelikan 4001 inks are widely available online from several suppliers and from specialist dealers in the high street. Because of its depth of tone, the ink is ideal for use where photocopying will or may be required. It could be an everyday ink for personal and business use although it may be too dark and too formal were it considered for party invitations, greetings cards etc. Because of its dry nature, it cannot be recommended for use in any pen that is also considered 'dry' as the rate of ink-flow is likely to be too low; that is its only practical restriction. A first-class dry ink at a reasonable price, especially with this offer which is about a third below normal retail!

Extra special!
CONS: The carboard box it came in was somewhat battered and it was not wrapped in any way to prevent potential damage from the envelope it was rattling around in. PROS: Excellent consistency and flows well in a variety of pens I have tried it with. At its current price it is excellent value for money.

Great product- very slow delivery
Excellent ink. Expensive. Price shown didn’t include £1.72 VAT and £1.66 p and p. Very slow delivery- why do dispatchers use Royal Mail? Hopeless.

Good colour
This ink is in reproduction vintage packaging and bottle which looks great. The ink is a nice dark bright blue and flows well

Brilliant product, rubbish delivery
Why did you choose this product over others?: The product is absolutely excellent, unfortunately the delivery driver tried to force the packaged ink bottle through my letterbox. The packaging and lid were damaged and leaky as a result, the letter box broken. Real shame because its out me off ordering inks from amazon

Good Equivalent Ink for Meisterstuck
Good ink - runs wet and is a dark forest green. Not too long to dry and doesn’t bleed. I use it for a Montblanc Meisterstuck.

Esta tinta es de muy buena calidad y su precio es contenido, es un azul brillante y bonito muy clásico, Creo que no merece la pena gastar mas dinero en marcas menos conocidas pues es una tinta fluida y con un buen secado.

Lovely, rusty color. Not waterproof, and can be smudged for special drawing effects. Good.

This color is true torquoise blue. Unlike brands like syahi which has a greenish undertone, this color is purely blue. Ink flow is adequate, writing quality is smooth. Can be used for designing calligraphy as well as everyday ink . Not fully water resistant . A bit expensive but Would definitely recommend . Doesnt cause feathering or bleed through while writing with medium nib pilot kakuno and fine nib lamy .

もっとブラウンらしいものが欲しかったが実際はオレンジに近い色です。しかし、これはこれでいい色で使い道があると思いました。
