the Bhagwad Gita for explorers
Eknath eswaran’s translation and explanations of the Gita align to the Mahatma Gandhi philosophy of ahimsa and dharma. It is in that sense a slightly weighted form of understanding that he derives which may be disputed by some scholars. Certainly there are some concepts of caste and devotion that do not ring true to me but then I am in no position to judge. All in all this version of Gita is simple enough to understand and it reads true for most part. The authors tone is what I like the most, humble and exploratory and open to dialogue for we are all errant explorers grasping at glimpses of the truth.

Great.
I see the same core spiritual wisdom here as most other spiritual books I've read. This is up there with the best I've read. And the fact it's the core text of the oldest religion in the world shows how eternal its message is. I loved how it told it as the scene of a battle but it's the battle of the self. I loved it.

Well expressed
I enjoy this spiritual classic, written in clear english. Expressed in a manner that makes the hindu scriptures very accessable to the western reader.I always value people like Eknath, who are able to express spiritual truths objectively.Looking at the world, brings many questions that require objective answers, not subjective ones. For example, we must speak on spiritual things, only in terms that can be understood by all peoples, of all faiths, religions, and cultures. Otherwise, these subjective experiences, are not objective, and can not be integrated or absorbed by other people, nor learned from. For example. Alan Watts, a fabulous spiritual man, had a talent for explaining eastern spiritual thought and infusing it in western thought and allowing us to integrate that, thus enriching our spiritual subjective individual experiences, for those open to that new spiritual information. This book is one of the classic gems that does just that. For the spiritually awakened, you will learn from this book. Wisdom and truth, light and life.

Beautiful
What can one say about the Bhagavad Gita...any comment would be an understatement of the text as it only requires true humbleness. As for this translation, it was quite easy to read and the comments were valuable. Same as his translation of the Upanishads (highly recommended!), this was a book that resonated deeply and I go back to frequently.

For starters who want to read Bhagavadgeetha - simple english
The media could not be loaded. Pros:1. Simple english2. Excellent binding3. Explanation of terms used in Bhagavadgeetha in the introduction - this helped me a lot4. Brief introduction to each chapter at the beginning of each chapter - this gives overview and context for the chapter5. Excellent bindingCons:None I could think ofNote: this book is for someone who never read Bhagavadgeetha. So, everything is straightforward without any deeper explanation. Having said that Bhagavadgeetha itself is insightful and full of wisdom. So, you will benefit reading this book for sure.

Truly great!
I believe that philosophy, beauty and truth are the very best things in life. And the experience of this book for me was a combination of all. For every person, this book is different I believe. For me, the greatest lesson was that singleness of purpose, or focus in our talent and duty, brings peace of mind and spirit once we understand we are part of the whole. I became aware of so many things that is hard to put in words the joy and calmness I experienced with the book. A life experience worth having, not magical, but the clarity and beauty of the text makes us see the world more maturely and objectively, and yet more tolerant and patient with its unpredictable continuous change. Just loved it!
