Lovely ink, unlike other indian ink
I have been trying out various black inks in my search for the blackest ink I can find. This is pretty good, an attractive cool satin black. For line drawing it looks much like any other black ink. When brushing, it is a lovely deep black, far blacker than Pelikan or Higgins ink. (I haven't compared it to W&N yet). However, where it really shines is when playing with wet on wet drawing. The ink blooms much more extensively and beautifully than my other inks when applied to wet paper, forming an even matt surface with a slight satin sheen. It also dries quickly. If you are looking for a particularly matt ink, I'm not sure this is it. When brushing out to large areas of black, it covers well but has a distinct sheen. If I want a matt surface, I now use Kuretake Zig Cartoonist ink.

Excellent for modelmaking too!
Ink was used to create the outlining on a Borderlands-style model project, and was a joy to use. Low viscosity combined with super-dense pigment means that even over the trickiest surfaces, a fine brush was able to put the ink exactly where it was needed without any runs or pooling, and once the model was "outlined", no cleanup was needed. It made this BorderHammer Technical project super-fun and is a good choice for anyone painting their builds in a comic book/graphic novel/cel-shaded style.

Very good ink- almost perfectly waterproof
I do a lot of linework illustrations and use a lot of coloured acrylic inkwashes on my work. So having an ink that is waterproof is pretty important to me.Even though it is not perfectly waterproof the amount of bleed off from the ink once it has settled is so minimal that its negligible. Its not frustrated me in the past like other inks so I'm happy to use it in my work.I'm also very happy with how smoothly it flows in my Pentel Fude brush pen. It is a very vibrant and strong black ink and I will definitely be buying more of this in future.

Excellent manufacturer
I've been buying this company's products for some time - both the inks and the watercolours - and they are always the best pigments and the best media. This is no exception - a jet black black which dries to a slightly shiny finish and which is completely waterproof even if you add extra water for a less intense colour, very useful dropper too

Excellent
By far the best ink I've ever used; I couldn't recommend it highly enough. There is version of it called HiCarb which is equally as good but more difficult to find. For steel dip pen use, this is the ink for you.

Rolls Royce Of Artists Ink
Already been a big fan of Dr Martens water colour inks for a long time now . So thought I’d try the Black Waterproof ink as I’ve had trouble finding an ink that’s as dense as inks I’ve used in the past . The Black Star ink has a very dark Matt finish which is superb.

As recommended by
Wanted to try this ink as many YouTube artists use it, amazon was the only place in the uk to get it. Nice black ink for drawing. It’s matte, lightfast and doesn’t erase with the pencil lines. Win!

great ink
Very nice ink. Looks great, and very dark black rather than sepia black.
