Excellent head for a better snare drum sound!
I've had this gauge head on snare drums before, so I had made an informed decision when buying this one. Evans latest offerings do certainly seem to edging ahead of rivals like Remo. I put this on a birch snare drum (5" deep) to replace the O.E.M original which was 6 yrs old and not very good anyway (Remo UK which apparently, is a Korean-made film, not USA Mylar). Coupled with the Evans HD Dry batter I just bought, this head is just what I wanted. It dries out the snare wire sound just enough to sound like recorded drums do. The overall sound of the drum is now 100% better & more professional! I'm surprised more dealers/suppliers don't "push" these 500 weight heads more - they are so much better for rock/pop/modern jazz/fusion than the standard 300 type heads fitted in my opinion. I can see that a very light precise orchestral player or a gentle jazz/ quiet piano accompanist might prefer something a bit more responsive especially on a shallower 3 or 4" deep drum, but anything else, I'd say "go-for-it!"

Great side head
sounds great, highly durable.basically the 200 is for high pitch (bright snares) the 300 is highly versitile and works between the others and the 500 side head is perfect for drummers looking for a darker snare sound, it has a nice depth to it and will pass on all ghost notes.

Loud, tough and well Rounded snare sound
Very very nice sounding resonant snare head. Thick and durable without too much sustain. Perfect for my needs.

Great drum head
I love it. Great sound, fast decay, and incredibly easy to tune. The only way I could possibly describe this sound is fat and loud, and I would recommend this to any drummer interested in playing rock/punk/metal etc.

Wonderful Sound.
First time I've tried a 500 snare head (normally use a hazy 300), this is such a great sound. A drier but clearer snare sound. Will not buy anything else now.

Very Good
I replaced the 250 with this 500 and its a really dead sound for a snare, getting closer to a marching drum, this matches my kit wonderfully, no gaffa no moongel etc, just 2 skins and you get a great sound with hardly any ring

You know that they have an excellent top to master this exceptional bottom. It really lets the chains rattle.

Parche Evans
Evans es calidad. Productos excelentes y con buena vida útil. Pero más allá de cuestiones de costos, Evans son productos que mejoran notable y definitivamente cualquier kit de baterísta. Y hablo como amateur que lo practica por placer de vida. Evans ofrece levantar tu sonido a excelentes estandares. Mi reseña o la de un publicista, pudiésen mentir. Pero el oido no miente: Evans es excelencia.
