Excellent for the price, can’t fault it.
At this price point, it’s great. I don’t have any of the lateral movement issues some of the reviews talk about. The depth stop is also easy to set and I like that it is set using the Allen key…..takes an extra few seconds but much tighter locking in position. The only thing I don’t quite get is why there is a depth stop grub screw on the body plus an extra depth stop collar on the stem…..both do the same thing as far as I can see, but no problem. Very good and much better than the two pillar plunge type stand I used previously.

Kitchen cabinet handle replacement
The changing of kitchen cabinet handles required new holes to be drilled. As I am not great at drilling perpendicular holes, I researched a tool that would help me in drilling numerous holes. This drill stand was good value, easy to assemble and made drilling the holes easier and faster than drilling by eye. The drill holder does move slightly after alignment but its accuracy was adequate for the required job.

A good sturdy drilling hig
A well made drill stand complete with a vice to hold the work piece securely. Drilling depth is small compared to a drill press but is adequate for most jobs. Depending on the thickness of the item to be drilled, you can adjust the pillar height to accommodate

Not bad, but improvements required for 100% accuracy
It’s okay but not perfect. Pros: It’s not bad, you can mount the drill, drill almost accurate 90 degrees vertical holes. I had a piece that required 6 identical pieces to be drilled and then stacked and glued together. I couldn’t do this before and the reason for buying the stand. I was able to achieve this and insert my linear bearing both ends and line up.. however, if you mixup the order of the pieces and glue them together they almost line up, it works but the rod was very tight to move, when it shouldn’t be. In the right order it was perfect. This says to me the drill wasn’t perfectly 90 degrees, more like 87 or something. So for most people accurate enough? It’s easy to put together. It feels strong, robust (except for one issue with a screw shearing). Easy to use! Cons: The clamp that holds the drill doesn’t hold the drill well enough. When tightening it starts to move it off 90 degrees from the work. The reducer ring it too big, so can’t use that, I had some heat shrink grip that I added to the drill and that widened it slightly, this helped a lot, but not perfect. Second, the screw that I used to adjust the height of the drill sheared off on the same day of purchase which rendered it useless. I purchased a replacement M6 screw with a lever so I could get rid of the Allen key, which is annoying to always have to find. I also found the hole in the base wasn’t aligned with the drill clamp so it’s always just off which means the drill bit hits the metal stand when using larger bits. I have to use an off-cut of wood to lift the work piece up a bit, annoying as it’s hard to secure the work piece properly.

Im Happy
As good as you will get for £27 does what its supposed to do but i did do the 15mm pipe end cap mod like the other poster did and that does improve the stand allot (i didn't pack the cap with anything) its a simple mod i also shortened the pipe cap so i get almost full travel, cant understand why the manufacturer didn't do something similar in the Chinese factory wouldn't cost allot. i would say the stand is probably better for wood than metal but just remember that you will probably have movement in your drill chuck bearings so you will always get some lateral movement and that added to the very slight side movement in the stand wont help when drilling metal but seem to be ok for wood and buffalo horn.the drill fits in the mount quite tight so you don't need to swing on the Allen key to tighten the same goes for the back up & down adjuster.the base casting is a little rough and i did have to file a few rough bits of not really a problem. All in all a good item i didn't want to spend allot and am happy with it the vice is not the best but it works very well and does what it should do, and again at £27 for the stand & vice good money as others have said if you want to build a space station or you need ultra precision Spend More Money. on a side note i managed to use this on its back as sort of a lathe with the help of a mandrel and a roller skate bearing but that's probably note advisable so don't do it.

Allows you to do do much more with your hand drill - not a bad gadget
I have never used a drill stand before, but I was getting a bit frustrated with drilling wonky holes, especially when they needed to be long and precise. I also wanted to drill a few recessed holes which didn't go right through the wood, but with my hand drill, I couldn't get it right all the time, and I was wasting more wood than I could spare. I couldn't really spend a fortune on a pillar drill, so I thought I would try this contraption - it had to be better than nothing at all. I found the instructions to be a bit lacking, but now that I've worked out to use it, I'm pleased with it. As I have said in other reviews, I am not a professional. I have only ever used a hand drill, so I'm NOT comparing this to a pillar drill. I'm comparing it to using a hand drill on its own, so for me, this is a great gadget. Using this, I can drill a hole to a precise depth, at a perfect right angle. I can drill almost-but-not-quite though wood (yes, I need to do that sometimes), and I can drill big flat holes (using Forstner bits). Yes, there is a bit of lateral movement, but that hasn't been an issue for me, I just clamp it all up, set the drill away, then slowly guide it to the right place in the wood. So far, I've only had one real issue, and that's been with the bolt which holds the bottom "stopper" collar - the bit around the post which stops the drill from going any further down. The thread in the bolt collapsed after a few days' use - I could feel it weakening, then it just went. I rummaged in my toolbox and replaced it with a stronger bolt and a butterfly nut, and it has been fine since. So all in all, not a bad bit of kit, not perfect, but definitely good value at less than £30.
