A nice surprise
An excellent book for learning and teaching the proper term for a large variety of animal mothers.

Three Stars
This series of books is not quite as "adorable" nor as interesting (to children) as I had hoped.

This book corresponds to "Hug a Bull: An Ode to Animal Dads " while everything found in "Hug A Bull" can be said for this particular book as well. First of all the author explores the names of various female parents while also encouraging children to be interactive in answering questions about their own human moms. As in the other book the author uses puns and small word plays to introduce animal mothers to kids whether they may be commonly known such as jill donkeys and sow pigs and little known ones such as hen octopi. These names are repeated in a poster collage at the back of the page where the animal mother is shown with her name posted for easy look-up. With the mixture of brightly colored yet cute animal pictures and the easy reading rhythm children will enjoy reading this book. And one can probably end up forming some creative ideas to help children whether in school activities or even for Mother's Day.

She reads it for what feels like hours every day
My 17 month old loves this book so much! She reads it for what feels like hours every day. We have this and Chuckling Ducklings checked out from the library in hardcover format, but there's no way she will tire of it any time soon, so I'm glad to have found these in board book format. Great Christmas gifts. Very educational and engaging. Pictured is my daughter reading the hardcover library copy.

Fun Book to Read Together
My mom bought this book for my daughters and they love it! The book playfully explains what moms in the animal kingdom are called from sow to mare and hen and tigress. On the last page, you'll find all the animals and their names... my 1 year old likes to sit and point at them while making the appropriate animal sound. And best of all, the illustrations are just too cute for words!
