I could not be happier with this globe. I owned one before, but the tempered glass on this is amazing. Also you do not have to find the sweet spot every time to get the globe to float. As soon as you place it in the center, it floats. I highly recommend this version of the levitating globe. Way better than the plastic base ones.

I just LOVE gadgets that spark a child's interest in learning - this "magical" floating globe certainly does that!And it's a two-fer, because not only does it teach some Geography in spite of itself, it elicits questions about science!Explaining to a child how the thing floats or "levitates" and teaching them at the same time about science is the value this globe gives. As your explaining, their thirsty little eyes are wandering across continents and oceans, teaching them a bit about where everything actually is in the world. They've heard of Europe, Paris, the Eiffel Tower, Antarctica, Australia - but seeing where it is on the planet in relation to where WE are, makes those places more real.It's a little bit difficult to get it to float, but the hardest part is getting the kiddos to NOT touch it once it is floating! I can see it might be frustrating to some, but once you figure out how to line it up, it's pretty easy.The material seems to be decent quality, especially the base. I'm not too worried about it breaking. I think as long as the kids are at least 11 or 12 and you tell them to be careful it should be fine.The lights are pretty, but some of the colors just don't work so well if you're trying to read the labels at the same time. About the labels - the fonts look odd, very blocky, and they're placed as if they tried to line everything up at first then decided to put some in there slanted and squeezed the rest in however they could. Also, I'm not a Geography expert, but it seems there are LOTS of labels in some areas all crowded together and hardly any in other areas. In short, I think they could have done much better.Overall, I would absolutely and emphatically recommend this globe for any home with school-age children. It's solid, interesting, works as expected, decorative, and educational. Four stars and would be five if the labels were better.
