ES15 External Siren Alarm for use with Motion Sensor Detectors MA20 & MA30

very loud and works great! I would by another one works greatcheaper than another brand. Works as promised and not hard to install READTHE INSTRUCTIONS THEY ARE GOOD.

Purchased this as external alarm for motion detector to protect an RV. It is LOUD! Can't say whether it's been activated or not. No break-ins so far, though. Also have a warning sign in window. Discovered when its disconnected from sensor that alarm is set off, even when motion detector is disarmed. Didn't expect that! Best to remove battery beforehand to spare your ears!

This is great. External alarm to alert neighbors since I'm not there. I tested internal alone...loud, sure, but barely audible OUTSIDE. Plus, with internal alone...thief can smash and be done with it, taking their time. With the External alarm...you've introduced a fail-safe into your system, since it'll sound no matter what....if the line is cut or disconnected (as it would be if they smashed the internal alarm). They'd have to go outside, find a ladder, and tear it off from under the eave -- Unlikely.You can't stop a determined thief...but you can deter them and decrease the time they're going thru your stuff. This system, with the tiny "alarm" sticker they give you, moves you in the direction of doing both. Much better than internal alarm alone I think. Unless you're just using it while you're there.Main complaint centers on the angled jack you see in the picture. I already had a "finger sized" hole I was going to use to thread the line back in -- a hole left by a cable guy. Forget it. Too small. With the angled jack you see, you need nearly a ONE inch sized hole through a window frame, sash, wall, etc. That's a big hole considering the wire is super thin maybe needing an 1/8 inch hole at most. A few choices: 1) drill a one inch gaping hole -- not going to do this, 2) run the line through an opened window that you shut down on the wire -- not a choice for me & not a good idea since it'll abrade the wire over time, 3) disconnect the wire from the back of the External alarm then run it through the small hole and then reconnect -- tried this by opening the device up only to discover the wire is soldered onto the inaccessible back side of the small circuit board, so, uh, no go, at least for my skills and tools 4) splice the wire -- cut the wire run it through, then reconnect it with electrical tape. I chose this final alternative. Not too bad, just a little trouble. BUT all this could be prevented if they used a straight jack vs. the angled jack. I see why they did this, so the angled jack fits within the casing of the internal alarm body. BUT it would just make a lot more sense to fit a simple straight jack onto a wire, that by definition, must find passage from the Exterior of your home, to the Interior.But when all is said and done, I really like the peace of mind this system gives me. I have tools and supplies at the job site and now I can know that they won't just walk away with them without an alarm going off -- and the chance the neighbors will call. Oh, I should mention that site has no electric, so this battery option was exactly what I needed. I'm ordering another set of the interior/exterior alarms for the back of the building. Plus some battery operated trail cams for video.

It worked two times while testing it, then the siren went out. It would have been a great add-on if it worked correctly, but not worth the money or time it would take to get it down and return it. Its primary use was going to be on a small building that was approximately 800 feet away from a house. It was loud enough to hear if someone had broke in at night, but as stated earlier, the siren stopped working after the second test.

I bought this because I wanted an external siren, and this made it easy. Just buy the add on siren, add batteries, plug it in to this unit and you're good to go. I ran the wire behind the wall, and slipped the external siren between a basement window and the screen. As far as alarm systems, this was a piece of cake to set up.The remote worked so, so. I had to be within 8 feet or so to set the alarm, and it usually took 5 or 6 presses before it would actually activate the alarm. Disarming was harder. The remote had to be extremely close the the unit to work, sometimes actually touching the sensor, and took somtimes up to 10 presses to disarm the unit. I was usually able to disarm before the alarm went off which was good.There are actually few times when the house is completely empty, so the alarm was used maybe 20 times over a 9 month period. But after 9 months, the unit refused to disarm. The only way to silence the alarm was to find a screwdriver, open the unit and remove the batteries. I was contemplating buying another one since I could continue using the external siren, but then that unit went bad too - going off randomly and making strange sounds. So I'll be pitching this set up and buying something else.So in summary, this has very easy set up and operation, but the hit or miss remote activation and short lifespan made it a poor choice for me.

I think the alarm is ok, it doesn't say if its water proof and its not as loud as I would have liked. Mine is set up in a work shop 60' from my house. I'm concerned that in the summer months with AC on and windows closed, it won't be heard. I considered adding another external unit to a different area in my yard to intensify the effect.

Regarding the alarm: Works as advertised. Very easy to set up. It can stand on a flat surface, doesn't need to be mounted, although screws are supplied for mounting. At first I thought it didn't work but reread instructions and it worked fine. I'm using it in my motorhome after a recent break-in so it's perfect in that it's battery operated. I have yet to set up the siren, but as loud as the alarm it, I think the siren will be very loud. My only complaint is that I think it would be better if the alarm sounded for a longer period.

This siren is loud and it works. We use it alot. Nice addition to the ma20. I plan on mounting it at an out side vent, so the hood will hear it go off.
