Q: Is there anything I should pay attention to when painting by numbers?

yes some of the numbers are small some people get confused you should start from the darkest to the lightest and some colors like white or pastels you might have to put to 2 coats or you can use a marker (acrylic) to cover the numbers and paint over with white paint if that helps

I don’t think so , you would have to reorder the same kit . I’ve had problems with paint before and I just went to the dollar store and bought some acrylic paint and did my own thing.
