Murine Refresh & Soothe Eye Mist 15ml

I really like this eye mist as I have used it before. I can't use the Optrex version as it seems to make my eyes feel worse, but never had a problem with the Murine version. I dropped one star as the bottle I received only had a month left on the best before date, so I was a little disappointed about that as the eye mist, once opened, lasts much longer than eye drops, but in my case I didn't have that long left before it was out of date anyway.

When I first discovered Murine Refresh and Soothe Eye Mist I thought I'd give it a try. I had previously been using a few other brands but with them being more expensive and a large cost for what they are I thought I'd try this one, with it being 15ml it was 5ml larger than the others I'd tried and cheaper so I had hoped it would work well but I ended up quite disappointed. When I first tried out the eye spray I was quite happy, it wasn't as good as the last eye spray I'd tried but it seemed to be working and so that was good enough for me. It sprayed on easily and was a convenient alternative to drops but after a couple of sprays, I found that it was not so much of a fine spray as I feel it should have been and left me with it dribbling down my face and compared to other the spray was quite large heavier droplets. I used the eye spray four times a day, as suggested on the instructions, for around a week but I started noticing that my eyes were feeling a lot drier than usual. I would use the spray when they felt particularly dry and that would help for a short amount of time but the length of time it was effective at refreshing and soothing the eyes forgot shorter the more I used it. I started getting really dry eyes when I woke up each morning but I didn't think much of it as I'd had that happen a few weeks previously to starting using it after having an eye infection. One day when I woke up I was in a hurry and forgot to use the eye spray which I realised later in the day when I'd usually have used it but I noticed that my eyes weren't so dry. I left it for the time being and later that evening when my eyes got drier I used it again which left my eyes dry again a while after being sprayed. I soon realised that it wasn't as soothing and refreshing as I thought and that looking back my eyes were drier after using the spray than they were in the first place. I have since stopped using this spray and will go back to another brand when I need it, I have never had a problem with any brand of eye spray before but this one, unfortunately, has not worked for me.

Like many people, I find putting eye drops into my own eyes difficult due to the natural instinct to blink at the wrong moment! This is a great concept for a product - you spray it at closed eyelids, refreshing your eyes in a much easier way. Even if you can tilt your head back and put in eye drops easily, that's not something you can do when out and about, whereas pausing, closing your eyes and spraying, is so convenient. This does make my eyes feel less tired immediately - whether I'm wearing glasses and contacts - but my one criticism is that the feeling doesn't last that long and I have to reapply several times a day. I haven't found a better alternative, so I'm sticking with this product and brand for now.

I carry this with me everywhere, it’s instant relief and makes me feel refreshed and awake. The spray is on closed eyes and it will definitely wake you up. I don’t wear any eye make up but I can imagine it might interfere a little, but I honestly take this everywhere when I have a period of dryness in my eyes.

I have allergic rhinitis and suffer terribly from sore, achy, red, itchy (and anything else!) eyes, especially when outside. I have tried eye drops but never found them much use, mainly because they're fiddly to use and end up down your face most of the time, rather than in your eyes! I thought I had nothing to lose by trying this and am happy to say it does make a difference. It has a nice, immediate cooling and soothing effect. In addition, the mist is so much easier compared to drops, plus you waste less. I'll almost certainly be rebuying!
