Kids who love scary stories will like these
My kids love scary stories so I got them these books and they actually liked them a lot. They went through it pretty quickly. It’s a good read for8-12yr olds. Price was reasonable. And the reading was easy. Letters were big and it small!

Best Halloween Goodies Ever
Bought these to give out to Trick or Treaters, and I was not disappointed! Swarms of boys descended upon the stack with gleeful cries ("Books! She's giving out books!) and cleaned me out. Obviously an excellent choice, and one that I shall repeat next Halloween.

Love the books, Disappointed in the "pretend box"
This product doesn't technically claim to be a "box set" but the images certainly give you that impression. Be warned, there is no box, but just a colorful cardstock paper wrapper that won't bind the books together. Why do I care?1) Boxes help prevent damage during shipping2) Boxes help thin novels not tip over and become a mess on the bookshelf3) If you buy multiple sets, this is an easy way to organize them and have a place for each book, so you know if 1 is missing by the gap in the boxOk, now that I've got that off my chest (lol), these books are great. I loved them as a kid, and my son has been enjoying them.He has to get reading points for school, and it's always like pulling teeth getting him to choose a book and read it. This set made it easy. He just knew in advance he was going to work his way through each book, and he knew he'd enjoy each book. I can't recommend these enough for kids around 7 - 14 (depending on their reading level and interest). They are "spooky" without being "scary" so quite young children can read them. The vocabulary is relatively constrained for younger readers, but with a smattering of words they'll have to figure out from context clues or look up. It's a great way for novice readers to expand their vocabulary without feeling like you flung them in the deep end of classical literature. Now, my age range goes up to 14, but be warned that by 13 or 14 the kids are going to start feeling like these books are meant for little kids. So if your teen watches scary movies and plays scary video games, these books might feel "too baby" for them.I listed age 7 at the low end, but that's mostly if your kid is a fairly advanced reader. I read them starting around 7 or 8 and it was a stretch for me, but I really enjoyed them.

Great Reading
I purchased these for my granddaughter who is now reading chapter books. This genre is captivating at this time and she loves the suspense in the books. Highly recommend for anyone transitioning to chapter books.
