Beautiful inside to Wing Chun history, practical guidance, self-development and beyond.
Master Loukas, who has over 30 years of experience, now shares his experience in this unique book. The book includes Wing Chun history, well explained fundamentals, concept, and strategy of the system. It provides useful technical guidance to day-to-day drills. A bonus content is how to apply philosophy and skills from Wing Chun to day-to-day life.It provides plenty of value to return, re read, reflect, improve. The book targets multiple audiences with different backgrounds. Suitable for long years of Wing Chun practitioner, somebody just starts his interest in martial arts, different martial arts practitioners, or somebody looking for self-development.I believe everyone should read this and will not be disappointed.

Wing Chun As It Is
Wing Chun in totality is physical, mental and philosophical. It cannot be developed alone, or from photographs or by reading. Why buy this book then? Because it is as close to a handbook of Wing Chun as it's possible to get. What can be sensibly written down is found here. The historical perspective isn't the usual. The insight into practice provides a (potential) student with an excellent summary of key foundations and lessons. Equally it's made clear this will only take one so far and why. The reader will also gain insight into the underpinning mindset of a practitioner which provides tools for living a healthy, balanced life. The quality of the content is backed up by the finish of the book. Good paper, nice fonts, neat presentation. It'll look good on the bookshelf but don't leave it there. Read it, enjoy it, let it become worn with reference. It is a tool to be used not merely displayed.

This is an excellent book; thought-provoking, informative and easy to read.
The author demonstrates a deep understanding of Wing Chun and has clearly spent many years exploring both the concepts and application of the Wing Chun system, not only to physical confrontations but to life in general.I would recommend this book not only to practitioners of the martial arts but to anyone interested in developing new approaches to everyday problems, as the advice shared shows ways of not only improving your training but your day-to-day life as well.

Read this book over 2 days. A brilliant read. Practitioners of Wing Chun take a pride in the art and this certainly adds substance and history to what we practice.

Fascinating read for all and essential for serious Wing Chun practitioners
In short, everyone should read this book!It is a must for anyone looking to get serious about Wing Chun, but also offers a structured guide to non practitioners looking to gain insights around how they can improve their life and deal with every day situations. The author is a world renowned authority on Wing Chun with a rare lineage from the old masters. The book offers practical guidance around the concepts and practical applications of Wing Chun, but does much more than that. A fascinating read, it covers the early origins from China to the modern day, and provides a guide to not only how to approach and practice Wing Chun, but valuable insights to the non practitioner around how they can adopt various principles to live a happier, healthier, more productive life. If you're someone who reads a lot of 'self help' books, this is the only one you'll ever need.. tried, tested and logical principles, the author will have you returning to re read certain sections time and time again. You may even take up Wing Chun if you haven't already! 5 stars.

Powerful meaning behind the book to help you physically and mentally. The book paints a fascinating picture of Loukas’ history with Wing Chun. There are not many practioners out there that have had such a close connection to the original Wing Chun history, definitely worth a read if you want to change your way of thinking, not only towards martial arts but towards real life

A real head-scratcher
I've been collecting martial arts books for more than 2 decades and have read a fair share of material on Wing Chun. Despite this book's title being "Wing Chun In Depth", I didn't find much here to differentiate it from better offers, such as the Belonoha compendiums or Danny Xuan's top notch Tao of Wing Chun. The author spends a large amount of time on lineage credentials which is to be expected from a Wing Chun book, but here the book is already quite short so it takes space better reserved for presenting principles of the art. The author also displays the usual focus on the intellectual superiority of Wing Chun compared with other styles such as boxing. We've heard that before, but here the author seems to genuinely have no idea what boxing even is and how it works, deriding it as "standing toe to toe, throwing a punch and waiting for the opponent to throw his". I did 2 years of amateur boxing and never realized it was supposed to be a turn-based battle system, because it isn't. The author also contradicts himself numerous times, depicting boxing as a toe to toe slugfest here, and as using to much useless evasive manoeuvres there, then goes in to praise his art for it's ability to go toe to toe without ever retreating. The end of the book also countains a kind of Robert Greene pastiche featuring Wing Chun rules for life along with historical anecdotes, which was cringe inducing. The Montessori bit didn't seem to have anything to do with Wing Chun, the part about "street fighters losing because they don't have a clear endgame" was a real headscratcher (their endgame is clear enough: beating their target to a pulp). The book ends with glorious praise for the sultan Memhed who invaded and destroyed the eastern roman empire, saying he embodied the principles of Wing Chun. And here I tought chinese martial arts where about conflic resolution and self-control, not about being a ruthless conqueror.
