Think about aromatic aberrations, lens flare, and a multitude of other aspects of lens that combine to make a great lens. If you are concerned about the best of the best just go to primes. The RF 50 f1.2 will give you the best of the best, yet you have to zoom with your feet.

Completely wrong lens for your use. Low light consider the RF 70-200 f/2.8, more light consider the f/4.0. If your serious about sport photography consider the R3 body.
