Product Description Putumayo Kids African Dreamland CD offers a harmonious collection of tranquil lullabies and soothing songs from Africa. CD includes soothing sounds featuring vocal and instrumental blends from Cameroon to Cape Verde. About the Artist Putumayo World Music was established in 1993 to introduce people to the music of the world's cultures. The label grew out of Putumayo clothing company, founded by Dan Storper in 1975 and sold in 1997. Co-founder Michael Kraus joined Dan to launch Putumayo World Music and establish a non-traditional sales division. Putumayo World Music has become known primarily for its upbeat and melodic compilations of great international music characterized by the company's motto: "guaranteed to make you feel good!" Putumayo's CD covers feature the distinctive art of Nicola Heindl, whose colorful, folkloric style represents one of Putumayo's goals: to connect the traditional to the contemporary. By combining appealing music and visuals with creative retail marketing, Putumayo has developed a unique brand identity - a rarity in today's artist-based music industry.

Beautiful music
My preschoolers love listening to this cd at rest time! Adults enjoy it as well!

Very Nice African Music
I think it had a little scratch on it but I kept it anyway for our class. We made instruments and used them to dance to the music.

Wonderful album that transcends children's music stereotypes
I love Putumayo's albums and its emphasis on celebrating the musical heritage of cultures around the world, and I wanted to find something for my son (who is now about 4.5 months old) that would expose him to the beauty and diversity of some of these world musics. I personally love African music, and after previewing the sound clips for "African Dreamland," knew that I would enjoy listening to this album as well. I make a conscious effort to play all sorts of musical genres for my son, from Early Music (medieval, Renaissance, music of the ancient world, etc.) to traditional folk styles to jazz and rock, and I really like that the Putumayo Kids label is putting out music that transcends the stereotype of what constitutes music for children. This album has a nice selection of tracks that provide a good mix of moods, from upbeat to more lullaby and contemplative-sounding. We've already listened to it several times, and it does seem to help him relax and fall asleep.

Good Anytime CD
The kids love it during the day, or even when my daughter drifts off to sleep. Putomayo CD's have always been one of her bedtime favorites. Some nice tracks for her to listen to as she nods off for the night. I even enjoy listening to some of them as they have a good rhythm. Not only does it provide musical entertainment, this one is also a learning piece. Sometimes the kids ask questions about where the music comes from, or what instrument is being played.Highly recommend all Putomayo for those who are "enlightened" and actually find some value in new culture, those other than our narrow own.

Very Soothing!
I love this cd. It arrived in a timely manner. I am a yoga instructor and am always looking for quiet music. It's a plus if it's African music too, because I teach Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) Yoga. This cd was perfect. My two favorite pieces are: "Agalilala" (track 5) and "Ikope Ye Tollo" (track 7).

Love it! Baby Loves it!
My son has been listening to this and several of the other "Dreamland" Series CDs every night since he was about 3 months. He is now 18 months and gets mad if we forget to turn on his CD when we put him down in his crib. The songs are very soothing and take you to a great relaxing place. Would make a great gift for a baby shower basket! :)

Good Music but Too Little of It
I've had wonderful experiences with previous Putumayo releases but I'm disappointed with the two CDs that I bought from their "dreamland" series of lullaby collections. On both disks, the songs are lovely but each disk has less than 30 minutes of music. At the price of a full album, I expect a full album's worth of music. This collection was disappointingly short.

Lovely music for little ones
Nice music. I personally don't like all the songs and my baby's too young to say what he thinks (that's why 4 and not 5 star). We have it on for calm activity time before bed. I think it's nicer than some other lullaby cds you get for children. Worth buying if you want more grown up, not babyish, sounds for your children that they can use for as long as they need and not grow out of.

Great CD and packaging.
Awesome CD. We were given another one from this series from my brother and my daughter and I love it. So I bought this one for a friend. They are lovely gifts and have all the lyrics too. Highly recommended.
