The BEST Travel cage for an umbrella cockatoo
Our cocktoo is the worlds BEST escape artist. Even when we board her at with vet, she escapes the cage they place her in. (yes our vet is an avian vet). I bought this cage in part for transferring her to our from our vet's office. Once it arrived though, it's large enough that I plan to use it as a second cage when I don't want her wandering around unattended while her main cage is being cleaned. The cage itself goes together with NO TOOLs. I was skeptical of this at first. But its so simple! I had it put together in 5 minutes. Also I can't say enough about the thought that went into the design of this cage. Whoever designed this REALLY understands birds. My cocktoo is as tame as a dog, but I can see that this cage is made to be able to care for birds who are biters. Once the bird is in the cage, the bedding and even the floor grate can be slid out of the bottom without disburbing the bird. When the floor grate and bedding tray are in place, there is a catch to keep them in place. Again yet another well thought out part of this design so a bird cannot dislodge the floor grate or bedding tray. The feeding doors are swing out type with a nice locking mechanism that the bird is not able to touch, and hence not able to escape from. But the door latch is what attracted me to the cage: Its very unique, and my cocktoo cannot get it open. The handles on the top I highly recommend. This makes transporting this slightly large travel cage a breeze.Although there is a smaller version of this travel cage, I am very satified with this one, albeit it a tiny bit larger then I anticipated needing. The good thing about that is, I'm not worried not about her getting stressed out during the trips to the vet. And in an emergency (like no heat in the house) I'm thiking I can place her in this cage, and assure she's warmer then trying to assure myself that she's warm in her big cage.Bottom line, this is money well spent (a thousand times over).**UPDATE** 11-16-2017I want to address two issues that you might see in other reviews on this product.Weight of the cage. Yes it is a little heavy. But is it too heavy? Well heavy is a relevant term. The double handles on the top of this cage help with the heft of this cage. Is it easier than a plexiglass travel cage? absolutely? Heft equals durability. And if you have a cockatoo, you NEED durability! Don't let this distract you from this cage. Is it too heavy to use as a travel cage? If you are a small person, or a child, maybe. Otherwise no.The feeder doors aren't great. Yes I agree with other reviews that the design of the feeder doors is the weakest part of the design. The feeder cups that come with the cage are not great. I simply removed them and put in feeder bowls that my bird was used to anyway. Less stress for my bird to deal with feeder cups she's used to. HOWEVER, the feeder doors are still useful for getting food in the cage if your bird is a biter. They aren't the best, but its better than a nip.The door bolt on the cage I bought was NOT plastic. It is metal with a double lock mechanism. Not only does it latch, but then the knob on that latch swings into a second catch that I defy any escape artist bird to undo.Bottom line - STILL the BEST cage for a cockatoo that refuses to stay in the cage. (mine can unscrew ANY bolt even with lock nut washers. But she absolutely cannot get out of this cage. )

Great cages for trace or longer
These are very well made cages and hold up great. The aluminum doesn’t rust and is easy to clean up. They are easy to put together and light enough that I can move them aside to clean. I do wish they had a few screws or clips of some sort to hold them together, other than the weight of the cage itself. Still it’s a great cage for medium sized parrots, my greys have lived in these for months moving between homes.

I like it. Good cage. Good customer service.
I was very happily surprised by how fast the order was shipped with in 3-4 days of order, I had it on my doorstep. It is a beautiful cage. Large and spacious for my cockatoo that is the size of a smaller chicken. The bars and cage pieces fit together securely without the use of tools. I thought the company had forgotten to pack one of the two handle bars that go with the cage for carrying purposes. I wrote to the company and "John" assured me he would get one shipped out promptly. As I was looking through all the packaging 3 days later I noticed the bar was taped up and int the white foam packing. I feel bad to cause Of the mess but I needed to tell them not to send an extra bar! Dealing with customer service was a breeze. Prompt and pleasant. The cage it self appears to be well made with the details thought out. No sharp edges. The sides slide and lock into place when putting the cage together. One person can easily do this. I love the door mechanism. It's like a z locking system. You push the metal bar to the right and then down, then slide to left. Cage door has a magnetic hold but can easily be opened by human hands. I'm not sure a bird would be able to push door open. Then to close the door it is a reversal lock. Very secure. The size is a little larger than I wanted or needed but I'll keep it because it's a perfect cage for the patio. It appears that it may be a bit to big for the front seat of my CrossTour vehicle .,for my Honda Odyssey, it should be ok for front seat traveling . The cage is spacious enough for birds vacations of a week or so. The two black plastic seed and water dishes are plastic so I'm waiting for Roxeanme, the cockatoo , to start trying to take it apart. I would have much preferred metal dishes. The price of the cage? Hard to price a good safety and well made cage that should not have anything that harms your beautiful bird. I believe an almost $300.00 portable cage is steep. But if the quality holds up and Roxeanme, after putting it to her chew test can't tear it apart, then I think I have a winner!

Very weak bars
Purchased for a golden conure to travel for an overnight trip- he was in the cage for less than 24 hours. He is not a destructive bird, I’ve never had a problem with him damaging cages, but I wanted something sturdier in case of a car accident. He was able to bend and remove bars with ease. He would just tug a bar and it would bend out and then he would pull it out from the holes. Within a matter of hours the cage was nearly disassembled.Very disappointed with this being a kings cage product- I have 13 birds and love king cages but I was shocked that this was as flimsy as it was, especially for the price point.

Stores great. Looks nice
Zip tie the pieces together and it’s bulletproof. The boys rode from Cali to Texas and I felt they were always safely transported

Worth every penny
This is my 48th year of living with parrots, this cage is so solidly-built, mindlessly easy to assemble, lightweight for it's size, and corrosion resistant, I ended up getting two of them for my mid-size macaw. One is a sleep cage, the other is for short outdoor sunbathing while I'm there with my bird, but unable to hold him on his harness. I even sprung for the full size cage as the main indoor home, after spending some time with these little ones. Of course it's pricey and no, I'm not independently wealthy. But it was an excellent decision for my lifelong companion as it gives him better sleep, better vitamin D, more access to short visits in different locations, and gives me freedom from worry about safety concerns.
