Q: Would this be OK to hang over the mantel of a gas fireplace, or might it be affected by the heat?

While I am certainly not an expert, I have had a gas fireplace in the past and I can't imagine that the wall above the mantel would get hot enough to do any damage to the picture. We love this picture and get so many compliments on it. Good luck!

Q: How to align the three parts? Is it come with a guide that helps me to hang them perfectly aligned?

No it doesn't come with a guide to help align the 3 frames. Honestly we just eye-balled it and it turned out great! But I know you can just use a measuring tape and that would suffice. Just keep in mind too.. if you don't like the way it turns out- you have to pay 40$ or more in shipping it back!!! gah! We thought it made the room feel too dark.. and the bottom palm tree looks funny once you see it in person. But if you love it and trust it is exactly what you like then, the hanging it up part is a breeze.

Q: Does it bother you that Sun doesn't fit completely into middle panel? How much spacing do you choose between panels?

It would have looked better I think if they had put it in the middle. With that being said, it doesn't bother me. I put all three panels tightly together, I just didn't like the way the images didn't line up with each other with a space in between them. What does bother me is how much I paid for such a relatively cheap looking picture. It's not nearly as clear as it looks in the pictures, so just don't be surprised.

Q: I had bought the four piece. Can I buy one panel to make it five?

It looks like you should have bought the 5 panel instead. Maybe you can return the 4 panel and order the 5-panel picture because the picture fits onto each panel selection that you buy. I bought a 3 panel and I am very happy with it.
