Cuts like a knife
This is the third knife I’ve purchased from Mercer Culinary, following my Santoku and Chef’s knives—and I have to say, this bread knife is my favorite so far. It slices through bread effortlessly, like a knife through... well, bread! The serrated edge is razor-sharp, giving you clean cuts without tearing or crushing the loaf. The handle is ergonomic and comfortable, offering a secure grip even during longer prep sessions. Like other Mercer knives, it comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which adds real value. The build quality is top-notch—solid, well-balanced, and clearly made to last. Mercer has consistently impressed me, and I’d absolutely recommend their knives to anyone looking for professional-grade tools at a great price.

The undisputed champion of my barbecue kitchen!
During the summer I purchased a pellet grill and immediately started experimenting with new cooking methods and preparation techniques. My wife was getting increasingly irked at my use of her expensive set of knives and frankly I wanted to pick up something that I didn’t have to worry about damaging or ruining in some way while learning. I had a one knife budget and wanted something that could do everything, after some research I realized a chef knife would fit the bill. I looked at several before deciding on this one, basically the cost of this knife plus a sharpener with good reviews was still about half of the next closest competitor. This knife also came in red which I liked as it was easily differentiated from my wives set. This this is the right size and shape and was delivered sharp. This knife seems to be a good weight and the grip is easy to hold even when wet. After sharpening this thing really shines though. It holds an edge exceptionally well and can sharpen to a scary edge. Using a quality sharp knife I have found it easy to trim my briskets and slice my vegetables. The shape of the blade lends its self well to both tasks. I ended up picking up a cake knife to accompany the chef in my arsenal as well as some quality sheathes for both to keep them safe in storage. Overall both knives are well made and a great value for the money. All told the two knives, the sheathes and the cheap sharpener still came in under the total cost of my wife’s chef. I think mine out preforms hers and I actually catch her going to mine if I’m not looking. For the price, go for it. These things are great quality at a fraction of the cost.

It's a good knife
These are razor sharp but they're a little bit thin. Great for bread work but not so much for cutting a lot of Crostinni's through baguettes. It is an awesome fresh bread sandwich knife for line cooking.... Not and all-day prep knife... But I really like it.

Sharp, Comfortable, and Perfect for Produce
This Mercer Culinary Millennia produce knife is excellent! The 6-inch blade is sharp and precise, making it perfect for cutting fruits and vegetables with ease. The handle is comfortable, provides a secure grip, and the green color makes it easy to identify in the kitchen. Great balance, durable construction, and very affordable for the quality. A fantastic addition to my kitchen tools!

Good Price and Good Product.
Perfectly Ergonomic handle, ferociously sharp and an overall, light blade.BTW: I Collect, sell and customize Knives and Samurai swords, and I'm picky. The carbon/chromium alloy balance on this makes for a great blade-HAND WASH IT! Absolute Bargain and a pleasure to-Carefully-use. I enjoy this Mercer more than my pretentious German steel, heavy monster--Great for pairing a whole chicken, but everyday use, this 8" Mercer is Superior--And great deal.

Great knife! Sharp and comfortable!
I have many knives in varying price ranges. I'm a chef and I leave my Japanese knife at work so it's always there, and was looking to replace it (before it grows legs) with something a little less pricey and more easily replaceable. At around 18 dollars, I was quite surprised at the quality of this knife. The molded handle fits nicely in the hand, and there are rubber grippy things on it for when you're getting messy. I was almost afraid of the edge, as it was so sharp I took a patch of hair off my arm like a razor. I love everything about it, especially the entry level price. I'll be ordering another one for the house, as I'll be taking this to work to put it to work. The only box I can't check just yet is its ability to hold an edge. Not a huge issue for me as I have sharpening tools, it's just a matter of how often I have to hone or sharpen it, but for those who use their knives until they can't cut butter, could be a bigger issue. So that remains to be seen, but I sure enjoyed cutting up an onion into slivers last night. The only thing it doesn't do, and this is hard to explain, some knives almost "fall through" the item you are cutting, because of weight. This knife is fairly light and you'll have to contribute to the effort made by the knife to get through difficult projects. 5 stars and I'm getting another! *update- Ive now used the knife at work every day for several months. That is a lot of use. Each time I pull it from the drawer I run it over my steel, and that just lets it be its sharpest. Ive also noticed that there are several ways to grip it, one of my favorite it to gently grip it and just let my 4 fingers lift the handle, then push downwith my palm, it really helps prevent fatigue and cramping. You'll really enjoy this knife. 3 of my friends have purchased one after trying it.

I came across this knife via a review by American Test Kitchen on U-Tube. It is a fantastic knife which has made my life keenly more interesting, cutting home made brad that is. It works very well on soft tomatoes as well. I feel it will work for years to come/

Excellent beginner chopper for my daughter who is learning to cook and finds our best knives heavy and a bit intimidating.

This knife cuts bread well, but differently from other knives I've had. It's not like sharp sharp - I can't cut through a sheet of paper, and I'm not scared of it cutting my finger. If I run my finger on the blade it doesn't feel that sharp. I think it's the design, the scallops of the teeth that give it it's power. The first stroke it kind of skids a little unlike a knife with pointy serrations. But, wait for the second stroke, and it slices the loaf like butter. There are hardly any crumbs produced. I can cut a super thin slice with this thing. I love the 10" - the knife is always in contact with the bread. I was initially going to buy a more expensive Japanese bread knife but the reviews on this one were so good (and price) that I thought why not. And now I realize, all I need is this Mercer Millennia.
