My Dad: His Story, His Words Hardcover – June 1, 2008

I wish so badly that I had a book like this from my father. Although the book is small it contains a lot of questions (with room for a father's answers). Some questions are lighthearted and fun, like: Dad, what were your first few jobs? What did you do, and do you remember how much you earned? Other questions are more serious, for example: Dad, what was it like to become a father? The book keeps a good balance of questions that hold the potential for humorous stories/answers and also heavier questions to which I think most people would like to hear their father's answers. This book would make a great gift for anyone to give a father to pass on to his children, or a fantastic gift for any father to complete and give his children. Highly recommended.

I got this for my dad for Christmas and he re-gifted it to me one year later full of great stories and pictures. This book is full of nice and sometimes unexpected questions. I learned lots of new things about my dad from this. I let it sit on my shelf and look at it every now and then to remind myself of some of his great stories.Definitely a fun and unique buy.

Help keep your family's legacy alive. Let your father write his story. It is the perfect book to use as a family heirloom. Get his memory going and help him recall childhood experiences, the place where he grew up, his first love, his life as a father. It's a very heartfelt book and you're extremely likely to learn something you never knew.I recommend checking the dimensions before placing your order. The book is rather small and could pose a problem for individuals with large handwriting, but my dad has rather small handwriting so it will work for him.

bought this for my husband. lots of space to write and great questions asked I bought the mom one for me so it should be interesting for us to look back and see each others answers much less having our children read them.

I will admit, these are smaller than I thought, they are about the size of a large business card.However, this is a wonderful and thoughtful gift for your father.I had always wished that my grandfather could've had something like this. This book is filled with many amazing questions that your father can write out. Now my father's legacy can be carried throughout the generations.A wonderful, small, fun gift that really means something. Highly recommended!

This book is one of three versions I purchased-one for my Grandmother, another for my father, and a third for my mother.I'll start from the top:A. DESIGN:Beautiful exterior design. The color chosen for each group (Grandmothers, Moms, Dads) is appropriate, and the cover design is clean and simple. The linen covering for the cover of each book gives it a distinguished feel, far from many of the cheaply-made alternatives that can be found in the "Customers Who Purchased This Item Also Purchased..." recommendation bar along the bottom.There are only two issues with the design. First, the barcode that adheres to the back of the book is peeled off easily, but pulls some of the book's color off with it as it goes. Second, the books are so SMALL! This is really the main reason why they're rated at a three-star level. Between the photos and the product description, I felt as though it should have been made clear that these books are really no larger than a postcard. to discover this fact, you either have to order the books and discover it when they arrive in a tiny package, or scroll down and read into the product specs.Also, the size is especially inconvenient for mothers, fathers and Grandmothers who are older and need more space to write (both due to handwriting and the length of their stories) that's not such a great design choice. Each question only allows for a few lines' worth of answers...can you truly expect your family members to provide a recounting of the bits and pieces of her life with only a dozen closely spaced lines?B. INTERIOR COPY:Questions seem interesting and story-inspiring. There isn't much in the way of uniqueness, but the fact that the books are providing a start for family members to capture each others' stories is what really makes these books special. Again, a larger book would allow for an expansion of those stories instead of shortened, clipped versions. Text is clear and clean. Easy to read.C. PRICE:I felt that these books were a bit overpriced, but not overpriced enough that I wanted to go through the trouble of sending them back.D. OVERALLThese books seem well-made, well-designed and thoughtful. Whoever you purchase them for will definitely enjoy them (providing they're OK with the idea of having to come up with the stories to answer the questions). Most of all, you'll truly enjoy the opportunity to delve into some of your family stories. The only items to be aware of are1. The tiny size of these books.2. The limited writing space3. The barcode that takes some of the book color with it when peeled free.I'd only purchase these items again if the price were lowered. At even $5 or $6, I'd feel that the value was better. At $10, they seem overpriced to me.

I purchased this book for my husband as a Christmas gift as we are expecting our first child. I also purchased the My Mother book. These will be great books to give our children in the future and fun ways to capture our stories. The questions in this book are fun, sentimental and are questions I wouldn't normally think to just write out in a letter on my own. Highly recommend for any mom and dad's to be!

My father doesn't write. No letters, no cards, barely even a chore list. So, when I saw this book I talked myself out of it many times. After a recent visit, when my father seemed interested in sharing stories of his past with his grandchildren, I decided to order the book. I was so surprised to find him pouring his memories into this book with a passion. He even turned off the ever blaring television. I am glad the book was small enough to not be intimidating. And I can't wait to read his stories over and over!!

My Dad loved the idea, though he's not keen on filling it in with his own writing and thinks I should transcribe... But that's a different matter. Great shipping time! It arrived well before the estimated delivery date.

J'ai acheté ce petit livret à faire remplir par ses parents (un pour ma mère et un pour mon père). Je trouve l'idée tout simplement excellente !! Je leur avais offert le livre correspondant pour leur anniversaire respectif, et ils me les ont rendu remplis à noël. Quelle joie ! C'est un des meilleurs cadeaux que j'ai pu recevoir dans ma vie. Les questions sont très bien trouvées, simples mais j'ai été transportée dans leur vie, enfance, jeunesse que je ne connaissais pas si bien. Mes parents n'avaient pas énormément de temps à consacrer à un journal personnel, celui-ci est beaucoup plus simple et du coup accessible ! Il permet à qui le souhaite de laisser une petite trace sans avoir peur de l'immense tâche que cela peut impliquer !Je le recommande totalement.PETIT BEMOL: Le livre est en anglais ! Mais n'ayez pas peur, les questions sont relativement simples et google traduction est votre ami !

I bought this for my father, but I bought another journal for him as well called: A Father's Legacy. This one is small and short. It has some good questions but not very much room to answer them. I would have liked it more if there was more room to answer the questions and maybe some more detailed questions as well. I reccomend this book if you just want a small short gift to either give to your father or to your kids... But I would check out the other one I mentioned above if you want more detail and room.

I really wanted to write down some of my thoughts for my kids to read when they're older but could never figure out a structure for it. This book was great in helping to organize thoughts and write down a little about my life that I would not have thought about myself.I hope that i can share my memories first hand, but just in case.

Its a pretty small in size i was expecting a bigger book..but the questions are good though and enough space to write answers but the presentation could hv been better..but overall good product to pass legacy of your dad to upcoming generations
