Q: When opening the door, should the turning action feel gravelly or rough? It doesn't feel like that from the front when locked though.

Hello, In the locked state, the outsid knob is idling and cannot drive the latch, so the rotation is smooth. In the unlocked state, the outside knob can turn the latch, and the feel depends on the installation. If the latch does not fit well with the strike plate, it will feel unsmooth. It is recommended to check the fit of the latch and the strike plate, and also check whether the BACKSET setting is in place. thanks

Q: Can I purchase a second unit and use the new keypad as the inside handle so it is secure from both sides?

Can't. Two IU20 ( single sided locks) cannot be combined into one double sided lock. Please order IU32， IU32 is double-sided lock.(ASIN: B0BWFR9WJN) thanks

Q: It looks like the key is similar to schlage. can i get this re keyed to my existing schlage key?

You can match the key of this door-knob to KWIKSET lock. but we don't think it can RE-KEY to SCHLAGE. Because SCHLAGE cannot be compatible with KWIKSET. Thanks.

Hi, Not have, The door left open and there is no alarm. This mechanical latch is automatically locked by a spring. Same as regular knob latch. Thank you for your suggestion, we may add such sensors and alarms in the future. Thanks.
