Which would be better to buy the roll-on or the spray on?

My preference of the three forms (roll-on, gel pump, and spray) is the spray as I feel it is stronger, lasts longer, and is colorless. What may work best for you depends on where you need to apply it and how large an area you need to cover. For back pain, the spray is the way to go because you can use the spray bottle at any angle, it is easy to apply by yourself, and dries quickly. For smaller areas (arms, legs) that are easy to see fully and reach, the gel or roll-on might be preferable as you can control where you apply it better. Another consideration -- the gel and roll-on is green so you need to ensure you've got it rubbed in well or it will stain clothing, whereas the spray is clear. I'm considering trying the roll-on again as it would be more convenient to carry than the 4oz. spray, but my initial experience with it (probably mid-1980s) wasn't favorable as it didn't come out smoothly and still required rubbing in to remove excess. I'm considering trying the colorless version of the roll-on or gel, provided it contains ILEX. NOTE: The spray is very strong, so if you try it, I'd avoid breathing in the mist. I usually go to a vacant room to apply it, then quickly exit. The smell dissipates quickly but it provides relief for many hours.

Can this roll-on be taken on an airplane?

No, they will not let you. But you might be able to have it in your plastic bag that you show. Check how much liquid is allowed on the flight. I have had mine taken when I have flown. So I pack it.

how much menthol is in each one?

They've raised it to 4% this year but old bottles are still 3.5%. They used to have Camphor in it too. Since it only has Menthol now you're better served going to Wal-Mart & buying Equate Cool & Heat with 16% Menthol. 2.5 oz roll-on for $3.83.

Much better than using ice on sore muscles.

I do physical therapy on my neck and shoulders three times because I have broken my shoulder and had to have a complete replacement. My P. T. specialist has me doing a set of exercisers three times a day and using it after the heat to cool the area after. It has been a wonderful way to cool the area down and not have to use anything else in the way of pain relief. It is much better than using ice for 20 minuets three times a day.

Gelly feeling

When you apply it, you immediately feel a strong cooling sensation. It gives noticeable relief, especially after workouts or when my knees feel sore. The only downside is that the relief doesn’t last very long. You may need to reapply depending on your pain level. Still, it works quickly and is convenient to use because of the roll-on applicator.

Easy to use and works pretty good

I was surprised at how well this rollon pain ointment works. It doesn't last a long time but I got relief for 2-3 hours
