Fathered by God is the most important book on masculinity I have ever read. It truly changed my perspective of God as my Father. Eldredge's writing is beautiful and piercing to the reality of a man's journey.

This book has changed my life by changing my outlook on life as a man. I realize I have some healing I have to do and this book helps with going back to my childhood as a boy and the years after as a teenager and young man. Looking at these stages in my life and what was missed, and asking God to fill those empty spots. I’ve begun to treat all aspects of my life better now, from being a husband, to being a father, to being the head of my household, and being a man of God. I can’t even articulate fully how I feel after reading this book but hopefully you get the gist of the review. Amazing book and a must read for all fathers and women would benefit to see what the soul of a man yearns for.

This book is a gift right now in my life. I’m walking through some grief with my dad, and this book is giving me some deep encouragement and helpful things to process. I’m also raising a young boy, and it’s giving me some good lenses to think through with him. Ultimately, it’s showing me some deeper kindness for myself, while pointing me closer to the realty of God fathering me and redeeming the parts of my heart that got missed. John Eldredge continues to be a gift and blessing in my spiritual walk.

Wow!!! I’ve heard of John Eldredge before, but I’m pretty picky with investing my time into other people’s recommended books and authors. I was wanting to dig into more books on ‘fatherhood’ and this book was only $11 on Amazon at the time, and the authors name was familiar, so I pulled the trigger and bought a copy. And WOW!!!!! I can’t put this book down! I've cried multiple times because this book resonates deep within me in certain stages of my life. In the healing that I am going through and in need of. Powerful book!!! Sooooo good!!!! A must read for every man!!! I’ll be definitely buying more books from him, and checking out his YouTube channel “Wild At Heart”. I’ve already listened to a few of his podcasts on that channel, and on ‘BraveCo’ channel and they are awesome. What a beautiful person John is.

I am now 73 years old, in the final years (hopefully) of my life. My life would/could have brought more glory to God if this book had been available in my early twenties, by that is water over the falls now. I read "Wild at Heart" in my early thirties, but it did not impact or affect me like this later effort. I plan to read it through again to let it impress on my soul, so I can apply it to my life instead of just an addition to the list of "how to" books I have read over the last 45+ years.

Unfortunately, this wasn't for me.I got halfway through the book, but never could finish it.

Eldredge does it again. A perfect followup to Wild at Heart.

I’ve been recommending this book to all of my friends. Life makes a lot more sense after reading this book. Actually, I listened to the audio twice and realized I needed the hard copy to highlight and make more notes. If you’re a guy, with a past, you would benefit greatly by reading this book.

There is no joy that is greater than finding intimacy with God, and John has faithfully recorded a journey that brings men to find deeper intimacy and greater joy. Highly recommended reading for any man, regardless of your season or position.

A wealth of wisdom that digs deep into the heart of a man and awakens what lay dormant. Eldredge’s books have impacted my life in a way as a debt I could never repay, but only begin to pay by embracing my masculinity in God, and showing others the path that I and so many others have trekked.

Before you buy this book, there are two things you should know. First, it was written for men, and for men alone. Generally, there could be a similar book for women, but this one isn't. Second, the book is largely a reproduction of material from "The Way of the Wild Heart." Having said this, this is an excellent book. Eldredge describes the stages of a man's journey through life - from the beloved son and the cowboy through various other stages to the sage. He describes what these stages ideally look like, what they are meant to be, but he also explains the wounds that ordinary men like you and me suffer during those periods. It is his perspective on life and manhood (a perspective you don't come across very often in church) that helps you reflect on your own life. Eldredge's book is easy to read and very encouraging. Well worth reading.

By far the best book on manhood, fatherhood, and everything a man's heart so deeply and deerly longs for!! Definitely a must have!!

Every person should read this book: Men, to gain perspective on life and women, to understand how to support us! Wonderful book! Definite must for 2020 readers!!
