Dickinsons Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner, 16oz Bottles(Pack of 6)

I recently bought a competitor, Thayers....it has got little gold medals on its label. I tried it and it felt "slimy" not fresh and crisp like the witch hazel I'm used to using. I read the ingredients...Thayers includes aloe AND vegetable glycerin (fat)....hence the slime factor. Fine perhaps if you've got a dry, dry face that needs moisturizing. Also, Witch hazel is the 4th ingredient, behind water, and alcohol! Annoyed I thought I'd see who had given these "awards" so proudly displayed on the label. Uhm....mid-1800's Mechanics Charitable Association? WTF?Anyway....Back to Dickinson's. Two ingredients: Witch Hazel and Alcohol (14%). Pure, simple. Buying 6 pack saves a few bucks per bottle. BTW, witch hazel is great for mosquito bites....rub it on just after bite and resist temptation to itch....it's as if you've never been bitten. But it you Itch it...you've got a little itchy nightmare for several days. I slop on the witch hazel after shower and shave as a toner...rub it around ears and just a bit inside....all for better looking skin, less acne spots and, AND it seems to dry the water in my ears so I don't have water slogging around in there...drowning out my thoughts (ha ha).

This is the only brand of witch hazel our family uses. My father is in his mid-80s and could pass for someone in his late 60s. I'm not kidding. My grandparents swore by this brand for use on their skin and in their hair. My father uses it as an aftershave then puts some in his hair, and has done so for as long as I can remember. In addition to those uses, I think it's great for soothing bug / mosquito bites or itchy skin, prior to moisturizing.My grandparents also loved this brand, so out of curiosity I looked up how long this company has been producing witch hazel and learned it's been around for 150 years (since sometime in the 1800s.) Wow!

I have used this product for many years to clean and tone my face. While I may use another cleanser when showering, this is the product I trust above all else. There are few simple ingredients that work perfectly for my fair skin. It doesn't dry my skin and doesn't leave the residue that soap does. I recommend it highly.
