Mythographic Color and Discover: Aviary: An Artist's Coloring Book of Winged Beauties

This is the best Mythographic by far, in my personal opinion. I only started buying them once they stopped putting in those hidden object and they have only gotten better and better since.All of the artists who make books for Mythographic are incredible, but Joseph stands head and shoulder above the rest. While Mythographic style has always been to have a lot of elements on the page, a lot of times it’s too much and the picture is cluttered and too busy. Joseph adeptly adds a lot of elements to color and a lot of detail while still maintaining beautiful composition of the page and elements. It’s not overly done, its detailed without being cluttered.Joseph Catimbang has always had a strength in drawing animals. I’ve not seen many people be able to capture an animal so well with just simple line art. And I genuinely believe this is peak Joseph- animals, but ESPECIALLY birds, are where he shines and this book is just a showcase of that skill.This book is inviting and challenging without being overwhelming. The paper is lovely but not so much that it would make the price unaffordable. It’s a very reasonable size, the actual page size I mean. I love the squared cut versus the large portrait orientation that most Amazon quality coloring books are. The pages are all perforated and easily removed but I’ve also never had an issue with pages becoming detached that I wanted to keep in the book. The amount of pages and pictures to color is mind blowing. Quality and content for the price is just unreal- it feels like such a good deal and it is.If you’re just looking into the Mythographic series I highly recommend starting with the newer ones that don’t have hidden objects. I normally don’t like coloring animals but Jospeh’s line art makes me feel like I would really have to try to make it look terrible LolThis and Voyage have been the best Mythographic books in my opinion, but I honestly think it’s hard to go wrong with any of them- so long as you like that artists style. There’s nothing about the quality I could complain about. I’ve seen higher quality coloring books but they either cost a ton more, aren’t available on Amazon or any other convenient place to buy, or I just don’t like the style of the art. These books hit that sweet spot. Sometimes my super high quality coloring books paralyze me- in the sense that I’m terrified to use them because if I mess up then I’ll never get the chance again to make it right- I have 1 chance to get it right and make it beautiful. But these…. They’re so cheap and Amazon brings it to your doorstep in a day or 2. So if you mess up then you spend $14 and get an entirely new book the next day. I just think that all of those reasons increase the value for me drastically and make the price tag MORE than reasonable.I wish I could rate it higher. Have fun everyone! For quite some time, I impatiently danced in my shoes waiting for Mythographics Aviary by Joseph Catimbang to come out. After it was released and I finally ordered this little gem, my mind was blown away.The Mythographic Series is known for having single side printed images on medium thick quality paper. Add a piece of foil or scrap blotter paper between pages and you can use alcohol markers or gel pens without working about ruining an image on the back side. Older Mythographics had hidden image but due to popular demand, the newer books don't have hidden images to ruin the coloring experience.As other reviewers stated, both Mythographics and Joseph Catimbang are great for colorists with reliable fun illustrations for people of all ages and styles to enjoy. One reviewer stated there isn't enough variety but I beg to differ.First, the book is called Aviary, with a cover that clearly depicts what topic and theme we are following. The main theme is birds or things that fly, and as that is the theme, there is something that flies in every page. When someone says Aviary, not gonna lie...first thing I think of is birds. But JC added bees, butterflies, penguins and the likes. There are different birds. My other argument against variety is as I'm showing in my photo examples, the styles vary. Many books published these days by independent sellers who generate via AI are regurgitating the same images over and over again. You can get an AI generated book called Big Cats and end up with 40 lion or tiger images with same backgrounds and no variety.Mythographic books and Joseph Catimbang give us quality and variety. Better yet, those who don't like birds aren't going to feel cheated because the title is clear on the subject.I absolutely love the quality of these books and JC's exceptionally reliable work. I've got most of thr Mythographics and want the new ones that will be coming out this year and early 2024.If you like detailed coloring,birds, beautiful images that tell a story, this is the book for you. It was for me, and I have zero regrets purchasing it.

This artist did a wonderful job with the drawings in this book.Be aware: Several of the mythographic books “color and discover” have hidden pictures that don’t make sense… feels like a childs “highlights magazine- hidden pictures” with tubes of toothpaste and stupid items in the artwork which really ruins the picture.This artist did not do that, he did very beautiful and tasteful pictures that when colored are so pretty you can frame them. Bravo!!

There aren't really "hidden" objects, if there are, they are cohesive with the images. Angers me when people give bad reviews when they receive messed up items. We aren't stupid, this is AMAZON, they'll REPLACE it. Also leaving a bad review because it is single sided pages is also stupid, read the description. I appreciate that these are single sided, high quality, perforated pages. Great book.

Never thought I would pay as must as I do for a color.book. So this tell you what I like about these.books.

I like almost anything from this author and this book didnt disappoint! Beautiful images! So worth the buy!

Joseph Catimbang is clearly my favourite artist of adult colouring books. His detailed art is incredible. I've always loved birds (I never grow tired of the sound of Cardinals, or Blue Jays - although with Blue Jays, they are, as my mother used to say, "So yappy!!") and so this addition to my collection is much appreciated.
