50 First Dates - A "Just Go With It" Double Feature
The name of this Double Feature really should be The Just Go With It Double Feature, because that's pretty much what you're doing when buying this copy of 50 First Dates. Unfortunately, I was unable to find another copy of this film in Blu-ray format on Amazon, so I just went with it! The main movie of the double feature still holds up to be one of the best romantic comedies I've ever seen. It fortunately works perfectly with Adam Sandler's type of humor, back when it was a little more relevant, and captured what makes him a tolerable dramatic actor. The concept of 50 First Dates is so simple I'm shocked no one was ever able to implement it so cleverly. Every day is the same day for Drew Barrymore's character, so how do you fall in love with someone and then prove to them every day that your love is real? It's not a likely story in reality, but for this movie it works wonders. It still is an emotional movie and it's filled with great laughs from Sean Astin who plays her muscle obsessed brother. A lot of the Sandler Squad are out in full force, as well as Dan Aykroyd who has a good cameo. All these years later, I still thoroughly enjoyed this movie and thought it was worth the $10. Also, the Special Features are decent even though there's no commentary. Hawaii always looks beautiful, but especially on Blu-ray!Just Go With It, is a movie... and it's not great, at all. It has funny bits, really funny bits actually, including Kevin Nealon's character who has had so much plastic surgery his face can't move. It's really for stuff like this, Swardson moments, and other small cameos that you should ever find yourself watching this movie. I still got a kick out of seeing Dan Patrick in one of the scenes at the end, because he loves doing his Sandler cameos and you can tell he's having fun. This, you can say about everyone in the movie for the most part, as even Brooklyn Decker shines and plays the part as well as one could. Everything looks great in Blu-ray and once again they're in Hawaii. I also watched both the cast commentary and the director's commentary for the movie, which provided insight and the cast version definitely provided some more laughs, but overall do not add to the movie on its own. It's more of a cheap rental movie, but I'll take it I suppose.Overall, I highly recommend this package deal despite the lackluster Just Go With It. I had seen the film before and thought why not, and it certainly didn't sway my purchase though I wouldn't buy it on its own. It will not be worth watching again, as the gags are all one-sided and it's mostly bottom of the barrel Sandler humor. I gave the film a 3/10 upon re-watching, and gave 50 First Dates an 8.5/10. Blu-ray copies both came in great condition and I'm glad to own 50 First Dates on Blu-ray, which is one of the best rom-coms of a generation.

Very Disappointed.
I am really disappointed. I got a new blu-ray player for Christmas. So the first thing I did was order my favorite movies. Two of them being 50 First Dates and Just Go With It. So I got the movies opened them up and put the first one in the dvd player. I watched 50 First Dates first and the movie is off center. I messed with the aspect Ratio and couldn't fix it. The second movie I watched was Just Go With It. During the movie the sound kept going in and out. When the characters were speaking they also sounded very muffled. I am not sure if others have had the same experience or if it is just a fluke.

This is what you call a feel-good film
The basic storyline of 50 First Dates: Henry Roth lives in Hawaii and spend his time wooing women who are visiting the island, simply because there is little chance of commitment. Then he meets Lucy Whitmore. One day they hit it off, and the next she doesn't even recognise him. It turns out that she suffers from short-term memory loss, and every day he tries to win her over once more. Firstly, I have to say that 50 First Dates is a really funny film. It isn't overly stupid, but it's not subtle either. But underneath the humour is where I believe this film's true beauty lies. It shows love in a way that I have never seen in another film before. From the way that her family sacrifices everything to keep her happy, and blissfully unaware of her condition, to Henry who, despite the fact that he could have just about any woman that he wanted, decides that he wants to be with Lucy, regardless of the fact that he has to meet her for the first time every day. Henry's character undergoes somewhat of a transformation in front of our eyes. The film starts off with him coming across as somewhat of a pig (well, to us women anyway :)), and by the end of the film, we truly admire him. He even sacrifices his dream so that he can be with Lucy, and help her to move on with her life. The film isn't really predictable, either. For example, I spent the entire films assuming that the ending would be somewhat different. Although romcoms almost always have happy endings, this one damn near had me in tears. And it wasn't even sad. I never knew what a feel-good film was until I saw this...highly recommended.

Best movie about traumatic brain injury I've ever seen
On September 24, 2000 I was in a car wreck that killed me... I had no vital signs at all. I was flown in a helicopter ambulance to the closest hospital. God breathed into me again the breath of life. I had a ruptured spleen, 6 broken left ribs, fractured left clavicle, blowout fracture of my left optical orbit, and bleeding to the right frontal lobe of my brain, in other words, a traumatic brain injury. Every time I watch this movie I am moved to tears. Watch it and learn of the consequences of TBI.

Profound
Drew and Adam are so good together. Decent, moving, entertaining. Interesting hypothesis; I suppose this sort of thing really could or does happen, and Adam certainly handled it with temerity. In that he was fast becoming Drew's inevitable saving grace, Adam took the show when he said, "I'm sorry I'm not better looking." Priceless heartfelt storyline. I will watch it again soon.

Classic Drew and Adam Movie to Make You Smile
Classic Adam Sandler and one I can watch with my pre-teen son who loves Adam Sandler. But now he has discovered Dre Barrymore and wants to watch a few more of her movies. Highly recommend as a feel good, romantic comedy that is also quirky and cute.

Hugely enjoyable and heartwarming
The general plot of this film is someone trying to make someone else fall in love with him every day and I have to say that I do find something to love in this film every time I see it. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore work well together in this and they are backed up by a great support cast. Henry first meets Lucy at a cafe and is surprised by how well they get on, considering that Henry is not after a relationship. But the next day, Lucy rebuffs him. It emerges that Lucy has severe short-term memory loss - she cannot remember anything that happened the day before, not helped by the fact that her protective father and brother have lived in a time warp by reliving the same day over and over again for Lucy's benefit. Henry sets about doing the seemingly-impossible - by trying to get involved in Lucy's life in the hope that she will eventually 'remember' him and have a relationship with Lucy. It is engaging, funny and tugs at a few heartstrings along the way. A great film to watch on a quiet night in.
