Color Your Own Abstract Art Masterpieces (Dover Art Masterpieces To Color)

Fun abstract art coloring book
This Color Your Own Abstract Art Masterpieces coloring book features 29 “paintings” of 20th century abstract art works to color. The pages are two-sided, so coloring must be done with pencils or crayons, not markers. The “paintings” may be done in whatever colors you like. Should you wish to make them look like the originals, the colored works are featured on the inside of the front and back covers. This is a good coloring book to expose young ones (or those young-at-heart) to abstract art. What would make the coloring book better, in my opinion, is to have the pages single sided with perforations to easily remove from the book.

A Plethora Of Modern Art
This amazing book by Muncie Hendler is great in many ways. The primary use is obviously exposing children to some of the greatest abstract art in the history of the world in a fun and interactive way. It succeeds brilliantly in that goal, but it is actually a good way for adults (especially young adults or people new to modern art) to learn about and appreciate abstract art as well. The book is nicely printed, and features nice (but relatively small) color images of the original works of art as well as the actual pages to be colored in black and white. This is a great way to expose people to the joys of abstract art. I think it is a brilliant little book, and is the best of the series by Muncie Hendler.

Free Your Mind The Rest Will Follow- From Coloring
The style of these pictures allow you to break free of rigid coloring techniques and thus make it easier to choose your own hues. You can almost meditate as you color these since you're not restricted by the designs like in most other books.

Abstracts
I thought this book of abstract arts are full of lines and shapes similar to the cover but I was wrong. I forgot that different artist has different views of their abstract art. There are some pieces of abstract inside that contains only very simple shapes like circles or triangles, but it's a masterpiece already! I wonder why? but it's great to have this book... :-)

Great teaching tool
I teach art to adults. I use this book in the course focusing on color, color mixing and the impacts of color. Usually the concept of a "coloring book" and artistic creativity are at opposing sides. Using the pages of this book allows the student to focus on specific concepts without the added pressure of developing an original piece of art while learning basic concepts. I am very pleased with the variety of artists and styles provided. I love this series.

cool... but not the best I've seen
I was looking forward to using this with my art students, and it is a really interesting way to introduce them to art pieces. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I've seen other books provide a brief intro before each piece that talks about the artist... not this one.

WISH ART WAS ON INDIVIDUAL PAGES
Nice coloring book but it would be nice if the pages were indiviual instead of back to back on one page..........spoils the coloring as the pages are not that thick.

30 famous abstract designs to colour/paint
I am using this book as inspiration to create a similar style canvas painting that I am attempting to make for myself. I love this book because you can colour in the picture that you have chosen but give it your own twist if you like. It is full of famous designs that most of I have never heard of. This is also a wonderful way for me to learn more about different artists as well as help me to become inspired to create my own similar abstract art. At the bottom of each page is a description. The benefits of google images is that you can go and look at the original colours of the different pictures and then this can help you to colour them in, although the front and back inside cover has small samples in colour of each page. The pages are numbered but not perforated so you would need to be careful removing the pages so that you do not tear them. The pages are double sided so you would need to also be careful when using alcohol ink pens as this would mean you loose the image on the back due to colour bleeding. If you use colouring pencils or watercolours then that would be okay.30 pages in total and only one design is across two pages.I am very pleased with this book and it could possibly be a book that could be useful for schools, clubs or groups that want to practice abstract art or learn more about famous designs. The pages are slightly off white and printed in black and most of the pages have a border/frame but not all.

Colouring for those "switch your brain off" moments
This book is interesting to colour because you can see how the masterpieces could have been improved if only YOU had chosen the colour scheme! I find this sort of thing relaxing and these are not as demanding as some of the "doodle" books.

The book is thin and not like other Color Your Own.
The paper and the art are well made. The pictures are back to back on one page though. I like to hang my 'Art' on the fridge or something but this book means you lose one picture doing that. There needs to one picture per page not two in my opinion.
