Dewaxed Platina Shellac Flakes. (8 oz or 1/2 Lb.)

Shellac is a underrated finish, especially when thinned and used as a “sealer” for porous wood. It’s alcohol based (most recommend Everclear for a solvent, but I use a 99.9% pure alcohol available here on Amazon).It can be used as a top coat as well, but will remain vulnerable to any alcohol fluids (beer, wine, etc). It can be tinted with alcohol dyes. It evens out the grain, fills the pores of the wood, and provides for a perfect topcoat of anything you want to use (typically hand-rubbed polyurethane for me). It seems to work with any topcoat you choose… water-based or oil.These flakes dissolve well (without further crushing or grinding, like some recommend) and at room temperature. High quality flakes here… great stuff and highly recommended.

As Shellac doesn't keep for long periods of this this is the perfect solution to always have fresh Shellac when needed. Just dissolve what you need and the strength you need and go to work. Great finish as well.

Flakes dissolved easily in denatured alcohol, good coverage and color. Ordered more to keep on hand.

Shellac is a wonderful finish. Easy to apply, dries quickly. can recoat with little effort since the second coat melts into the previous coat. Can be sanded between coats. Rediscovered this finish when I was remodeling older home, using this on molding and doors.

This is one of the few blonde shellacs I've purchased online that the flakes arrive looking as pale as their photograph in the description.They dissolved fairly readily with a little heat and have only a small amount of suspended solids to filter out.All in all pretty good for the price.

Very nice stuff! I make my own shellac because I don't like the extra chemicals in commercial products. These are fantastic and very transparent. Created a beautiful finish when applied using the french polish technique!
