they are to limit the travel of the blade..so that it doesnt pull off the Branch and fall or go to for a forward and jump off The branch.

It will flex when you use it. Best angles are between 45 and 75 degrees. That way the weight of the pole will drive the saw. The middle of the pole will go up and down a foot or two but not too much. Lifting fully assembled pole is tricky but I never felt it might break

yes, if you can position the saw blade correctly.

Not sure why it’s advertised as being corded. It most certainly is NOT. But that detail aside, this tool has exceeded my expectations when it came to cutting down some heavy branches that were a danger for my kids playing in the yard.
