Works Well
This seems to be quite accurate as the wattage displayed is close to what the appliance should be using. I have used another meter which wasn't very close to what it should be. It's easy enough to use and setup, the only thing really to setup is setting the tariff. There are over options such as setting an alarm for cost and overload, but I haven't needed to use these so my set up was simple. It also comes with a small plastic tool for pressing the reset button which is handy. It doesn't have a backlight which isn't a problem for me, but some people may prefer to have this as it can make it easier to read.

Gives useful information
This Electric Usage Monitor is a simple enough tool for finding out just how much electricity a particular appliance is using. It can be particularly useful for seeing how much an item on 'standby' can leach.Setting up is not difficult with just a few button presses to input the rate your energy company is charging for a unit of energy. There are 7 modes to this device, all listed above in the advert, with perhaps the most pertinent one being (in these days of astronomical energy prices) the actual cost of the power used on a device over a period of time.It fits well on a double socket and does not impair access to any switches. The display is uncluttered and very readable although if looked at from an angle it does become more difficult to read - a backlight might have helped in this respect.I assume this device is accurate. I do have a similar device from another brand that gives pretty similar readings, so I am happy with the read out this unit provides. There is a memory to this device which holds on to any settings while a socket is turned off, although how long this lasts I am not sure as up to now my device has been in constant use. It keeps the input cost per unit, time a particular appliance has been in use and such data, but not 'on the fly' data like current voltage.Likes:Not too large and does not overly obscure socket switchesLarge, clear displayEasy to use buttonsEasy to set upGood set of information availableDevice has a basic memory functionDislikes:None, other than there is no display backlight

Good value for money
No set up, but read the instructions. I am using it to check where my very expensive electricity is being consumed!

One downside
So far this seems to record how much I'm spending with accuracy. I've marked it down for two reasons. Number one: It's so annoying to have to reset it it after each use to clear the data to start again, otherwise it just carries on from when you last used it. And, although they supply a little plastic poker to reset it with, it's awkward and easy to lose and would be much easier with a dedicated reset button. Number two: The instructions leave a lot to be desired. They don't tell you about having to reset it after each use and they don't tell you how to reset it. The writing is also very small and hard to read.

Does its job and is precise
I found the user-interface fine. Everything else is excellent. I really love that it calculates the total cost of electricity for me, and it's right there on the main screen next to the current watts. The power-factor measurement capability is also very neat, to see if my devices/PCs are skewing the current.I'll probably buy a few more of these soon.

Excellent product especially if you want a backlit display
I chose this because it has a backlight. I can confirm this is very bright and very easy to read, so 5 stars. The monitor feels tough and well made. Another 5 stars. I cannot comment on its accuracy but have no reason to think it is unreliable. There are 3 alarms on the monitor that I will never need, and I don't know why anyone would. It is easy to set your "price per KwH" (the price that your electricity supplier is charging you) into the device, however, it is only possible to set this to 2 decimal places. But I think all the monitors are made like that. This is my third attempt at writing a review because I realised I made a mistake before. Initially I thought that you couldn’t use this monitor to test the electricity usage of 2 different appliances (eg a mobile phone and a toaster) without having to reset the monitor back to factory settings every time. I was wrong. You can. I’ve found that if you unplug this monitor for a while, it forgets everything except the unit price per KwH that you entered when you bought the monitor. Thus enabling you to test another appliance. This is excellent. Also if like me, your eyesight is imperfect, you will find the bright illuminated display to be exactly what you need. I highly recommend this product.
