Its great!
I posted pictures of the instruction booklet since I was irritated I couldn't really find any for a stand alone treatment. Hopefully that helped someone.I HIGHLY recommend this as a alternative to olaplex though. I used to be able to buy step 1 but I couldn't so I needed something else. I wanted to try this out and now i plan on buying the full size. Very happy with it. I haven't used it with bleach tho, I plan on trying it. As a stand alone it's great. I use it after using a hair mask(okay like 5 layered on in different parts of my hair) and a protein treatment, then step one. Rinse. step 2. More protein and leave in conditioner spray. Worked great for me.Update 2 years or so later. I LOVE this stuff. I just recently bought more (im broke and lazy) and my hair lovessss it. I've been sticking to mask treatments and protein( my hair takes protein like a sponge its so dang porous) and just remembered how nice this worked. However I checked the ingredients and uhm, they're EXACTLY the same! So I only bought step 1 and it MAKES NO DIFFERENCE! I have some of step 2 left from this and tried it over 1 section after step 1 and it made 0 difference. Sooo I'm sticking to using step 1 only unless one is cheaper than the other. I do use step 1 before a hair mask/protein or just washing my hair. I leave it in for 30 mins minimum (or overnight) or even lightly use it when i style my hair.I recently bleached the heck out of my hair, on top of previously bleached dead DEAD hair too. It really makes a difference. My hair is already very frizzy and poofy but it helps it behave and even take color more evenly. It won't save your hair but my lord does it make a difference in texture, feel and for MY hair the color. Makes my color last longer too BUT makes it harder to bleach out.

Can't Afford Other Bond Repair, This Will Do!
My hair is damaged from a few years of box dye usage. Think cheapest box dye for $2.99 or less! Compound that with being poor, low income/working poor for a few years, being middle-aged, needing to compete with people half your age for jobs and YOU MUST dye your hair to not look old! Ladies, I think we realize that age discrimination is rampant and people get fired for looking too old. Anyway, that's not the point, so my hair is in need of repair because of the neglect over the past few years. I've heard great things about Olaplex but can't seem to be able to cough up the money for it or stomach the price. Same as I can't even afford a haircut at the present and have had to cut my own hair for the past 6 years. I've not used Olaplex to compare this product to it but I think it seems to help restructure the hair and somehow make it look more lively, youthful, fuller of life and adds more shine. I just did the treatment one time with no heat and no chemicals or dyes and so far so good. I put a clear cheap dye processing cap over the product on my hair and just left it to absorb into the hair while I worked on other things for a few hours. I washed it out and put a styling cream into my hair and let air dry, after that I styled my hair as usual. The parts of my hair that felt crispy or fried before have softened but not gone away 100%, see years of damage from dye above. With a few treatments, I may feel brave enough to balayage my own hair now, I guess there's still possibly hope to get a trendy dye job with very little money in your pockets. I don't believe that only the well-heeled deserve to look good, we all do, no matter our income or lack of it! I

Knowledge is Power! Especially with your hair.
Firstly, please read this product and it's intended purpose before use if you expect results. Secondly, if your hair has been heavily bleached or permed prior and you're bleaching it AGAIN, on your own expecting this to somehow be a cure all to your damage and stop further damage, you will be highly disappointed. You would be highly disappointed with olaplex too though. This product gives those who can't get into the salon but need to lighten or process their hair at home an option to simply help strengthen and protect the hairs cuticle from harsh chemical processes like highlighting or bleaching your whole head. It, nor olaplex is or will ever be an instant fix to already damaged hair though. If your hair is damaged you need maintenance products not this and more bleach and developers. This product DOES WORK when used correctly.I do not feel it is quite as good as olaplex or uberliss systems, however.... accessibility and price point make this a game changer for those doing their own hair. Bottom line, if you are going to bleach your own hair, get this and at least spare your hair from further damage. There is literally no reason not to. Unless you can afford and have access to salon systems like olaplex and uberliss, and are using bleaching systems like redken's flash lift with a bonder already in it.... but I assume if that was the case you would just go to a salon? Hair dressers also use various developers that have built in argiplex I think is joico's maybe and other high end ingredients. So just because the end result doesn't "feel" as nice or look as "shiny" doesn't mean the product didn't work and protect the hair during the processing stage. If you can't afford to go to a salon or just don't want to, this product is worth your money! Your hair will absolutely thank you.

Step 1 Sucks, But Step 2 Rocks!
Step 1 (which you mix in with bleach/color) did absolutely nothing. If you’re looking for an olaplex dupe, this is not it. It didn’t prevent or help damage, and I saw absolutely no difference in the usual damage when I used it in my bleach.Step 2, however, is a good hair mask/ treatment. You use it after shampoo and before conditioner, and it does a good job at concealing the “fried” look of damaged hair. My hair is obviously still damaged, but step 2 helped make it more manageable. Do yourself a favor and go buy a bottle of step 2, not this kit.
