Book number two of a two book series
Book number two of a two book series. I do not know if there will be a third book but her website does claim one: "Watch out for news of book number three in the series: Nimbus".Space Opera with Psi! Yes, my personal favorite, why do you ask? Ms. Bedford has definitely built a nice universe here.Fits right in with Flynx (Alan Dean Foster), Ia (Jean Johnson), Cat (Joan D. Vinge), and the Liaden space operas with psi.

Loved it!
All the best SciFi right now is being written by women! And Jacey Bedford does not disappoint. This series has a gripping storyline, intriguing science and multilayered cast of characters.

Excellent Read!
Wow! I almost never write reviews but this book blew me away! Well written, great character development and kick ass weird SciFi ideas and battles. One of the best books I've read this year. Love the tactics in the final battle. Great job!

Three Stars
Plot line seemed scattered compared to the previous. I put it down about half way through

Solid second book in the series.
Finally got to the second book...despite the "erratic" pricing for my country. Fortunately my money were not wasted :)Pros1) Believable characters that are fleshed out well enough. What i mean is that if you haven't read the first book you might have some issues with some side characters (mostly the psi-techs that we met in the previous book) but it won't mess with your experiencing any of the action. There are some new characters that are a bit one dimensional but they are just gears to move the plot.2) Two major POVs you can really connect with plus a lesser one (the "evil overlord") that is very interesting.3) Believable science all around with one exception (see cons)4) The world is interesting and well described down to the corrupt monitors (space cops). Lots of ambiance and local colour to flavor the experience5)No Deus ex machina plot twists to further some dying plot.If you can suspend disbelief about the concept of psi-tech then it's all probableConsLike the previous book there is just one. The actual psi-tech is just a bit too mind-bending for my taste. While every other scifi aspect of the book seems probable, the actual psi-tech implants and what they can do for the users are more like fantasy than scifi.p.s You should really read the first one before moving to crossways. Pun intended

tremendous, timely science fiction
CrosswaysJacey BedfordDAW, Aug 4 2015, $7.99ISBN 9780756410179Implanted at birth with psi enhancing technology to enable techies to locate valuable resources for mega-corps, Cara Carlinni the Telepath and Ben Benjamin the Navigator did the unimaginable when they saved thousands of people instead of handing over the platinum find to the galaxy-spanning business entities. Giants like Alphacorp and the Trust need to make an example of this rebellious pair to other psi-techies; preferably dead but at least on trial for major crimes like terrorism and murder. The hunted felons and their surviving allies hide on Crossways Station where they plan a brief respite before sailing the Solar Wind in search of 30,000 lost in space settlers. However the pair also know that once they leave Crossways they will be in the crosshairs of those wanting to collect the dead or alive bounty. The second Psi-Tech thriller is a tremendous, timely science fiction tale starring courageous David and Davidette battling against Goliath. The keys to this action-packed space opera are the Bedford galaxy (with heroes, villains, fence-sitters and innocent victims) that comes across as real and the psi-technology seems genuine. Although it behooves the audience to have read Empire of Dust to better understand why Ben and especially Cara went rogue, Jacey Bedford authors a terrific tale with apparently more to follow.Harriet Klausner

Possibly the best book I have read in a long time.
I enjoyed Empire of Dust, I gave it 5 stars; if it were possible I would give Crossways 10. For me this book has only once downside; it was so very hard to put it down and get on with the rest of my life! It is a while since I read the first book in the trilogy, yet from page 1 I was engrossed. Very very few writers do that for me. In a time when people have populated intergalactic space and the corporations are in control and run by people who are corrupt and greedy, tis is the book in which the renegades manage to rescue some independence and some justice from the whole sorry mess. It is also a ripping yarn containing fights, adventure, derring do, love, sex, heroism and trust. What more could you possibly want? When can I get my hands on the next book Jacey?

An excellent sequel to 'Empire of Dust'
An excellent sequel to 'Empire of Dust'. I really enjoyed reading the continuing adventures of Ben (Psi-tech Navigator) and Cara (Telepath) as they battled the major corporations and strove to save the 30,000 lost settlers. Full of engaging characters, a fast-paced plot and wonderful world building. I can't wait for the final part of the trilogy!
