So far so good !
This bowl is awesome ! I have a senior cat that can only eat wet/semi moist food due to teeth extractions due to autoimmune reactions to bacteria in her mouth. One of the great things about this bowl is the training levels so they get used to the dish over time. Instructions are great and you just set it to stay open and then to 4 different levels of opening during the first couple weeks or however long it takes so your cat gets used to it slowly. She's on level 4 now. I got another one before this that I returned that didn't have that feature and it was louder and opened really fast and it freaked her out and she wouldn't go near it. I was concerned that my other cats would eat her food but since I didn't train them the other 3 are afraid of it so so far they stay away ! There are bowls that do this with a microchip reader that opens only to a specific cat but she does not have a micro chip and since she has an auto immune disease with allergic reactions I don't want to risk getting her a micro chip. So far this product is a dream. She eats a lot during the course of the day and this keeps her food fresh and from drying out. Love it !!

GO SLOWLY WITH TRAINING
I have 3 cats and recently changed to fancy feast when one kitty relapsed his bowel lymphoma and was vomiting kibble. This took some getting used to by my cats. First time it opened one jumped 3 feet away. Use the training mode & go very slowly. Now, after a month in training mode I'm finally in full operation. It does what it's supposed to do. Kitties have access to the food bowl when they want it and the food is much fresher.4 paws up.

THE HORRIBLE SMELL!!!
I have had this feeder for just a couple of weeks. I feed my cat fancy feast cans twice a day in my kitchen. At the end of the day I remove the bowl and lid, rinse out any old food, and hand wash with a little dish soap. After just a week I noticed a very foul smell coming from the bowl and lid even after I cleaned it. Smells like very very spoiled garbage. It has become stronger and stronger over the last week. The same food has been left in her metal bowl for 2-3 days between rinsing and never has had this odor. Whatever plastic they use for this is horrible at holding odors and bacteria. I have soaked it overnight in vinegar and now overnight in bleach with only a slight improvement that dissappears after one day of use. The bowls are not dishwasher safe?! Wow.The bugs around the food bowl are worse than they were before probably due to the new stronger odor. Because there are so many little flies around the bowl plentry get caught INSIDE the lid with the food as it closes after her feeding. That's part of the reason I clean it every night. So she isn't eating contaminated food.Since the flies are worse and it's starting to make my kitchen smell I am considering this item worthless and unusable. If another week of trying to get the smell under control doesn't work I will be sending it right back.

Best Pet Bowl!
The media could not be loaded. This thing is a life saver! My cat is on a special limited protien wet food that just stinks something awful. When I lived in a larger apartment, it wasn't so bad but now that I've moved into a studio, it permeates the air and I end up having to leave for a few hours until the smell dissipates. Since I purchased this and set it up, the smell has cut in half and is now tolerable. The neoprene seal isn't perfect, doesn't eliminate the smell entirely mind you, but enough for me to be in the same room after a feeding. As for the rest: set up was easy and self explanatory. My cat Fred figured out how to use it in under a day and it's been less than a week and he uses it just like his old bowl, no hesitation at all. No need for the training modes for my greedy little floof!I like the fact that the seal keeps the food fresh so it doesn't dry out and the bowl is non stick which makes cleaning a breeze. I no longer have to rescoop the remaining food into a pile in the bowl for him because the edges of this bowl are gently rounded therefore the food doesn't get stuck in steeply angled corners or edges. The best part by far, is that Fred no longer eats using his paws so I don't find a mess of dried food crumbles on the floor at the end of the day. I don't have to sweep and mop his food area twice a day anymore! Woohoo!I can't yet speak to the products durability since I've only had it a week but I hope it lasts a loooong time. Even if it doesn't, I'll probably buy another because this has been such a wonderful time saver for me.

Even my "Scaredy Cats" use these bowls.
I've got two sister cats who are afraid of their own shadows. So I took it VERY slow with the suggested training routine. The end result is that both cats now eat from these contraptions without any issues. I bought two, since my cats prefer different foods. Both units work very well, although I've noticed that one of the units opens and closes a little slower than the other one.The instructions are easy to understand. The grey single bowl that comes with the unit is very easy to clean. My cats are inside only, and I have no problem with bugs in the house...although I do get gnats because of an overabundance of houseplants. I have never noticed any gnats inside the pet bowl when I take it out to clean it.The big plus for me, and the reason I decided to take a chance with this product, is because my cats primarily eat canned food. They also like to eat just a little, and then come back to the food later. I live in a dry climate, and their food was drying out before they came back to it. Then they'd look up at me like it was my fault. This keeps the food moist for a couple of hours, and has saved me money by not having to throw out wasted food. I did order a couple of extra bowls for convenience. I've got one cat who likes to have a little dry food during the day as well, so I got a divided bowl for her use. I've had these SureFeeds almost two months now and have no complaints...but I do feel that a stainless steel bowl would be preferable if they could attach the sealing ring to steel.
