Solid blue flat coloring
This is layout fluid. It's just what you need to be able to see layout lines, mute glare, and tell where parts rub (or don't). This product is exactly what I was expecting, and I'm grateful to have found it.

You can paint something blue
It's dyem. Does what it's made for. Dries fast. Easy to work with.

Took an awful long time to get
I have used this material for over 35 years. Can't be beat for layout marking. And for laser printing, this is 1/5 the price (by cost and usage) of the items being sold to facilitate printing on metals. PS-after printing, this removes with MEK, Acetone, or any good solvent. Ray

Yup, it's layout fluid
Pretty standard layout fluid. Dries quick, cleans easy, dark color, what more can I say?

Handy for Porting Heads
If you are reading this then you probably know what this stuff is used for. It is a blue dye you paint on a metal surface to mark where you need to remove material. It is useful when lapping or squaring up ports. The only workable alternative is a marker. Yes, I would buy it again.

I use this Dykem Steel Blue layout fluid regularly on my manual lathe, and honestly, there's nothing quite like it for metalworking. When you need clear, precise scribe lines on your workpiece, this is the stuff that does the job properly. The coverage is excellent - a 4oz bottle goes a long way, and it applies evenly with a nice, thin coating. Dries quickly enough that you're not sat around waiting, and the blue colour provides brilliant contrast against most metals. Your scribed lines show up absolutely crisp and clear, which is exactly what you need when you're working to tight tolerances on a manual lathe. Now, here's the important bit: wear gloves. This fluid stains like you wouldn't believe. Get it on your hands and you'll be walking around with blue fingers for days. I learned that the hard way early on. It's proper industrial stuff, not some watered-down hobby product, and it behaves accordingly. The 4oz bottle is a handy size - not so small you're constantly running out, but compact enough to keep near the lathe without it getting in the way. If you're doing any serious layout work or machining, this is simply the best tool for the job. Just keep a box of disposable gloves nearby and you'll be golden. Well, blue actually, but you know what I mean. Highly recommended for anyone doing precision metalwork.
