Loved it!
The AQUANEAT Aquarium Bio Sponge Filter Breeding is an excellent choice for anyone raising fry, shrimp, or delicate fish species. Its simple yet highly effective design makes it a dependable staple for both beginners and experienced aquarists. What really makes this sponge filter shine is its gentle filtration. Unlike stronger mechanical filters that can stress or even harm small fish, this unit provides a soft, steady flow that keeps the water clean without creating dangerous currents. That makes it ideal for breeding tanks, quarantine setups, or shrimp colonies. The biological filtration is another standout feature. The sponge provides plenty of surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow, helping maintain stable water parameters and a healthier tank environment over time. Once established, it does a great job of naturally breaking down waste. It’s also incredibly quiet since it runs on an air pump—no motors, no humming—just a subtle stream of bubbles. This makes it perfect for setups where noise needs to be kept to a minimum. Maintenance is refreshingly simple: just rinse the sponge in tank water during routine cleaning, and it’s good to go. The build quality feels durable, and it’s easy to set up right out of the box. Overall, the AQUANEAT Bio Sponge Filter is a reliable, low-maintenance solution that excels in breeding and sensitive tank environments. It’s a must-have for anyone focused on fish health, stability, and gentle filtration.

Low-cost value for a clear tank
This is a decent little filter. I use it for a 7-gallon planted tank and it more than does the job. I had an algae and bacteria bloom that would not clear after a few months. I bought this filter, filled the chamber it has with filter floss, and put it in the tank. Water improved quickly and was crystal-clear in a couple of days. It’s just a solid two or three pieces of plastic which snap together and are pretty durable for taking apart and cleaning. The sponge on the outside does a good job of keeping small shrimp safe, as usual the enjoy grazing on the filter sponge. For a low-tech setup with a smaller tank, it does a good job. You could probably get away with using this in a bigger tank as well if you’re using primarily to keep the water clean in a low-tech tank.

Simple, and effective
Installed air stone for smaller bubbles, modified to fit. After 1 hour I could see a difference in the water clarity. Very inexpensive way to add more filtration to your tank. If you have an airstone already, no reason not to put in one of these, you still get the benefit of oxygenating the water, and you gain more filtration.

Perfect for larger tanks
Works amazing. I run 2 of these on a 125 gallon to keep it crystal clear. Very quiet and no need to use an air stone. These are very durable and easy to clean. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Great for small aquarium
Works great. Had to trim the spokes in order to get an air stone into the middle but it's been doing a great job in my 5 gallon tank with betta, snail, and shrimp.

Simplest most efficient filter
I have this in a 20 gallon tank for my axolotl. It has been consistently running for a few years now and has never failed me as long as it continues to get air. With the amount of filtration media, the good bacteria growth is insane. Makes no noise at all compared to hang on back filters. And is easy to hide and fit behind Hardscape.

Good filter for a small tank.

Simple and effective aquarium filter. The bio sponge design provides good mechanical and biological filtration without the complexity of canister filters. Easy to set up and easy to maintain - just rinse the sponge in tank water during water changes to preserve the beneficial bacteria. Runs quietly and keeps the water clear. Good size for smaller tanks and good value for the price.

Perfect two in one combo. Air pump and filtration. I own betta fish and cherry shrimp so the safe filtration minimises shrimplets getting sucked up and the bettas fins sticking to an internal filter.
