Ok. So... this thing works great. seems to be pretty accurate. The only thing i know of is you have to make sure you firmly press the leads into the meter. Secondly, and may not really be a problem in most situations, is the read time. The amount of readings it takes in a set amount of time. So compared to my Snap On meter, this thing reads slow. This isn't an issue for me really. I have different meters used for different things. this one works great for testing out electrical systems without having to disconnect anything. Overall, a great tool for the money

Works very well for the price. My cousin is a IBEW Union professional electrician. He came to visit & lend his knowledge with a project I had going on for a (home generator) install. He asked if I had a meter so I handed his this little jewel. He turned it ON & used it to see what my overall amperage draw was for the entire house under it's max load. He complimented it being as accurate as his daily used one. Sure it doesn't have all of the options his professional FLUKE branded does but he was very surprised that it performed as well as it did when I told how much I paid for .... that's good enough for me!

The price for this meter was great! I needed to troubleshoot the electric brakes on my trailer. It was recommended to cut into the wires to each brake to perform the tests. With this meter I did not have to cut the wires. Cut wires and reconnects usually lead to future failures. With a set voltage applied I could see if the brake was drawing the current that it should be. I checked the meter voltage readings against my other meter. It performed well. I checked the current portion by using ohms law. It did well there also. Great meter for a clamp on dc current tester.

I have two other clamp on ammeters. I needed a third DC Amps meter to allow measuring different wires at the same time. One of my other meters was designed with a reverse LCD display that has white numbers on a black background. That device was completely useless outdoors, where sunlight makes the readings on the display invisible. I decided to buy this MESTEK meter to replace the useless device and I was surprised at how much better MESTEK meter is. My calibration results against an Analog Devices DC Voltage Reference: 0.000V 0.000V 2.500V 2.500V 5.000V 5.010V 7.500V 7.49V 10.000V 9.99V Excellent DC accuracy! I used an inexpensive DVM with at 20 Amp internal current shunt to check the DC current clamp accuracy. 0.0 A 0.1 A 2.0 A 2.0 A 4.0 A 3.9 A 5.0 A 5.0 A Excellent DC current for an inductive clamp meter at this reasonable price point. Of course, these results are only possible if you learn to use the ZERO function before each reading. Clamp sensors are all subject to drift and offset errors. I have never seen a DC clamp Ammeter respond with errors of just 0.1 Amps in this test. This kind of performance would normally be associated with very expensive calibrated equipment from a big name manufacturer. User mode setting is easy, operation is intuitive, display is vastly superior to the other products with reverse LCD numbers. I must admit I am impressed at the good value this meter delivers.

Good

While not intended for calibrated precision work, this meter is great for most people. Face it, most of us don't need plus or minus .05% accuracy. We want a close estimate to the real reading. 120volts or 0 volts? Continuity or no continuity. This is good enough for almost everything you do as a homeowner or shade tree mechanic. It's worth the price.
