When fishing for Bluefin Tuna, I always swap out both hooks on a MadMac. While I used Owner 5/0 hooks at first, they sold out and couldn't be found anywhere. So I tried the BKK hook. I never lost fish using this hook, and they were readily available. One thing I wasn't sure about was the barb on the hook. It's much smaller than the Owner hook, but so far it hasn't been a problem. While I am partial to using owners, this is definitely a great second option.

These hooks are awesome. They are slightly bigger than VMC 3/0, which is perfect for the hooks I was replacing on things like darters and bottle plugs. They are super sharp and the angle is killer for hook-ups, so much so that I have been fishing them with a slightly looser drag. They are a little bit more expensive than VMC or Mustads, but I feel like they are worth it, especially since I use single hooks on most of my plugs. Highly recommended.
