The screw-on cover keeps the valve wide open. Yes, you can screw and unscrew superfast, but, with small tires, using this thing instantly deflates them, whether you're screwing it on or unscrewing it. A similar extender that came with the equipment works adequately for this purpose, so there is definitely some mis-engineering. I bought these hoping to have a spare, but they don't work. I am trying these with 10" tires that could go up to 35-40 psi, but they lose pressure in a heartbeat.

I got new tires last year and they also replaced the valves. Being that these are run flat tires and I don't drive the car much, I never checked the air pressure. When I finally did, I found that most were 5 lbs low. I turned on the compressor and went to put air in the tires. Much to my dismay, I couldn't because the valves stems were too low. This product saved the day. There were two in the package so I keep one in the garage and the other in the trunk of the car.

These valve stem extenders are the real deal. Construction is solid, well made parts. Each hose has a Schraeder valve in it, so it's not just a pass thru hose. You can connect it to your spare tire valve stem, for example, and effectively extend the valve stemAnd, the most important thing... these hoses are completely airtight. I used them with a drain ball plug in a shower pan. Inflation never changed over 4 days, while keep inflated a 2 inch ball.

These 8" extensions make adding air to my wife's car so much easier. Definitely worth the money. I don't need but one at a time so the 2 are plenty. For me a lifesaver since I'm disabled. So easy to connect to my Craftsman air compressor.

As depicted, works great. I used them for a hard to reach valve stem and that solved my problem. Someone had suggested using them on spare donut tire in the trunk, avoiding the hassle of having to remove the tire in order to inflate it. So, that’s where my extenders are right now. Another problem solved..
